Use a product w/ salicylic acid like Tend Skin.

Use a face scrub to clear away dead skin cells.

Shave after a shower so your beard is softened.

Change your blades frequently - every 4-5 shaves.

Allow one or two days in between shaves to allow the hairs to pass the top layer of skin more completely.

There are several steps you can take to prevent ingrown hairs.

1. Instead of just using soap and water to shave, use a shaving gel or foam. They are formulated to properly coat and lubricate your skin to prevent the razor from nicking your skin.

2. Shave in the direction that your hair grows.

3. Do not moisturize after shaving, wait a few minutes. Your pores will be more open, and can be irritated more easily at this time. Wait a few minutes, then gently pat your face with Vaseline which doesn't contain any added chemicals that will irritate your skin.

Apply a hot cloth or hand towel to your face before shaving. Make sure that you have a good razor not dull blades and be sure to use plenty of cream or soap you can also shave with hair conditioner to soften up the hairs on your face. This will give you a nice clean close shave.

Make sure that you are shaving the same direction as the hair growth.
