Why do we feel the need to do away with our culture to accommodate Muslims? Why do we have to get rid of everything Christian just because some minorities are offended? We don't we tell these Muslims how UNACCEPTABLE it is for them to come into our country and try to force their culture on us? We have Christian traditions and a national identity and we should NEVER EVER EVER change them for anyone or anything! Why don't we just kick these immature, ridiculous children to the curb and tell them to hit the road?

G- I'm not ignoring freedom of religion. Muslims have freedom of religion. They have the freedom to worship as they want, but not to force Muslim culture on us!

You guys don't seem to understand what I'm talking about. When I say "Christian traditions" I mean "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, religion in the public square, Christmas decorations in the public and in the schools, the Christian holidays. Have you heard about Halloween and Christmas being banned from public schools and Muslims trying to ban every holiday that's non-Muslim? That's what I mean when I say Muslims are trying to "force their culture on us." If Muslims are offended by our traditions, what are they doing here?

I agree. You need to bring back those good ole Christian values of racism, sexism, intolerance and hatred and then America will be on the right path once again!

Both USA and the UK are secular states, with a greater separation of Church from state in the American Constitution (England has the "Church of England"). Most modern countries have benefited from separating religion from politics thus shutting down countless wars between communities. Look at religious conflict in Northern Ireland and now in Iraq to see what happens when politics and religion mix.
The Muslim faith was in the first part of the century a peaceful faith, but has been weakened by fundamentalism (spread by oil money from Saudi Arabia). What we are seeing is a rise of Islamofacism which is totally different from the religion of Islam. It's tactics are akin to those of the Nazis and unfortunately through our leaders not understanding the threat we are losing the battle for hearts and minds in the Muslim world. With the result that wave after wave of the most upright young people will consider being suicide bombers or fighters. The way to stop this is to return to Western values from The Enlightenment which the founding fathers of the USA held and along with the spirit of the teaching of Jesus (forgiveness and understanding not the Old Testament retribution stuff) will begin to bring wisdom back to our politics and success to our battles.

We seem to have lost traditional Christian values that the US use to stand for. We have a government that is secretly treating prisoners in a way that we call war crime 60 years ago. I keep waiting for an out cry from the people but none seem to be forth coming. If we want the US to preserve our Christian identity, we should start behaving like a Christians. Muslims are less than 1% of our population and are not responsible for our loss of national idenity.

America does not have fixed national identity. Our culture is always changing -- our demographics have always been changing and expanding so that ethnicity only matters when it's brought up. "Christian" traditions don't mean much in terms of national identity. You people on the right want to mark a moment in time (say, 1956) and say, "This. This right here is America. You all can stop evolving the culture now." But culture isn't something you can control any more than you can control the stock market.
Speaking of immaturity...

What happened to our culture and national identity? Liberalism. I can't believe that it's become a "bad" thing to be patriotic. To love your country, fly a flag....hell, to putting a yellow magnet on your car. People show their support in ways that are appropriate to *them* - who in the hell is *anyone* else to judge that? And why on earth sneer down at your fellow countrymen, who just happen to think this is a pretty damned good place to live?
And I also think that anyone who doesn't support our troops is not worthy of the sacrifices that have been made on their behalf. I will happily help anyone who thinks this country sucks raise the funds to move....they should make room for the millions of people who want to legally immigrate.
