I am truly not sure how to act upon this situation because of the fact that I am very close to this "individual". It was a couple of us just hanging out, and after my cousin left, about a hour or two later my girlfriend was also getting ready to head out.. Long story short, we flipped the house upside down and the phone was not in sight.. (2 weeks later). My cousin and I met up after class, and after an hour of conversation just outside in the parking lot, he decides to show me his DVD player inside his car (bla-bla), and I look in the door, where the DVD's were.. And TA-DAAA.. the phone was there. He notices it quickly, and acts as if he was holding the door open while holding his hand on the phone, as he was showing me the DVD's.. then places the movies on top of the phone. Right away he was stuttering and I believe guilty conscious kicked in him.. Left me wordless, and 3-5min later, I headed out. My question: WHATS RIGHT FOR ME TO DO? Not getting police involved/company cant track..

Confront him. Say that is not the way to behave, and let him know that he has broken your trust.
Ask him to give you the phone back, and if he denies it. Let him know you watching him..
Dam that is so sad when that happens..

Tell him you want your phone back. He'll deny having it and when he does tell him you saw it in the car and point out how he was acting. Tell him if he gives it back to you now you won't call the police. If he refuses, call the police. He's your cousin and you're close to him but he apparently doesn't feel the same way you do if he's willing to steal from you and then lie about it. If you let him get away with this, you'll be doing him a dis-service by helping him avoid taking responsibility for his actions. Be direct and don't back down. He is in the wrong.

Hi

Tell him that you know that he has the phone, and tell him that you saw it in his car. If he doesn't give it back, call the police. Sometimes you can't be nice and try to reason with your relatives. If he tries to hide the phone or get rid of it after you confront him, call your cell phone company and have your phone turned off, but I suggest that you have it turned off anyway. You should have confronted him about the phone when you first saw it. I hope this helps you.

Have ur company suspend the phone so he can't use it/rack up expenses for you. basically the company will cancel the electronic serial number. if u don't want to press charges, this is your best option. also if you have the insurance added onto your plan, your carrier will replace the phone for you (minus your deductible). otherwise, buy a new phone and your carrier will activate the new serial number with your old phone number.

Tell ur parents, no a cell phone does not need police involvement, but something like a car does.

Call the phone company and report the phone as lost. They will turn it off.

if you do not involve something that really hurts him like police then he will never learn not to do things like that and if your are close to him then maybe you want him to learn that for his own sake
