Alright, so I have heard that it is possible Tom Glavin could be coming to Atlanta this year. It's a toss up between the Braves or staying with the Mets. What do you think of a rotation of Smoltz, Glavin, Hudson, Hampton(Granted he is healthy), and James. And how would that hold up in the NL East? Or will they trade pitching to get a center fielder?

That would probably be a pretty good lineup. Smoltz is going to decrease in ability sooner or later, and time isn't on his side. Hudson showed encouraging signs this year though of the pitcher he used to (and can) be. Hampton is a solid 3 starter when healthy nowadays, but that's very iffy. I wouldn't count on him. If he produces anything next season, consider it a bonus. James is a decent #5 guy, especially being a lefty. Glavine worries me though because he would be the 3rd lefty in the rotation...not a good majority to have. Plus, assuming Gonzo is back, you'd have a lefty closer. Lefties are good because they're rare. Over exposure, especially against their division, would weaken them more than if they had righties. That being said, I kind of expect the Braves to deal a little bit in the offseason. They need to cut salary, and Renteria seems like the prime candidate with the young guy ready to take his spot. That's probably where you'll get your #4 or #5 guy.

I think it would be great if Tom Glavine came back to the Braves, especially since seeing the headline yesterday that they would not be re-signing Andruw Jones. I wish that Greg Maddux could go back to the Braves too because when he, Smoltz, and Glavine were pitching for the Braves during the 90s they were an amazing team to watch.

Glavine is not the answer. He said he might retire, anyway.

Smoltz is getting up there in age, Hampton is injury-prone, to say the least. Hudson is good, but James needs to develop some more. They really need to trade for a good SP or sign a free agent with the money they'll save from shedding Andruw Jones' contract.

One idea is to trade Francour to the Pirates for one of their young arms -- Snell, Gorzelany or Maholm.

The Braves need pitching! I was hoping they would have gotten Glavine for the 2007 season. He was willing to take a pay cut. I think it's a great rotation if we got him, but I'm not sure about Hampton. I kind of wish they would get rid of him. I like James, but we definately need another starter.
