Surely this is no longer a debate. The proof of evolution is so freaking obvious that I cannot believe that there are still denyers. Just about every mammalian species has ancestors that are well documented in the fossil record. You can see, for example, proto horses, proto hippos, cave bears, sabre tooth tigers, etc and the evolutionary chain of these animals is clear just as it is for the various branches of the simian tree - **** erectus, **** sapien, **** sapien sapiens, etc.
Heck, you can see it at work in the H5N1 virus - bird flu which has mutated to operate across species.

Because evolution is the result of scientific methodology and religion is a belief. I don't have any problem with that and I'm not religious.
The two should actually never come in conflict because they truly aren't compatible. But give it a while and christianity will adopt evolution and fold it into their mythology as they have all other scientific discoveries it can't justify opposing.
As an atheist I actually hope that you're a theist pretending to present this as an atheist because that was an incredibly poorly thought out question.
Beta on the off chance that you actually are an atheist and you see this as a debate you took a well deserved beating from the theists in the room.

Although I agree that Suel is not one of those theists that out-debated you. Sorry Sue that was a horribly bad response to what was to begin with a lowball post. There isn't a scientists on Earth claiming humans evolved from apes. That is a sadly uninformed and uneducated mischaracterization of evolution.

No such element as an "evolutionist" Evolution has not something to do with the origins of the universe, Earth or the start of existence in the international, or no count if or not there's a "writer". that's not the alternative to creationist thinking - that's a verifiable fact supported with the help of years of examine and information. Please open and e book and study what evolution truly is formerly leaping to incorrect conclusions. Evolution has not something to do with atheism. There are human beings of religion - even Christians - who settle for evolution. And there are atheists who do not. No, you won't be able to tutor your god, or any others. in case you may, it might have been accomplished with the help of now.

Truth be told no one KNOWS what really happened- we were not there. With that said all theories must take faith to believe. If you want to believe that you came from monkeys go ahead and act all foolish- no wonder this world is in such bad shape- it is run by mokeys with only limited inteligence.
There really is no other option for me to even think about believing besides creation. You can try to prove your theory all you want to yourself maybe the more "proof" you get will help you look less like a monkey in the mirror. Oh wait I hope that your kids don't turn out to be monkeys too!! Maybe they will be more "advanced" this next generation and mutate into aliens!!

Anyone who wants to discover the truth must seek evidence for what he discovers. Evolutionists seek evidence through study, observation, experimentation in order to prove what they discover to be true.
Religious people don't bother with any of that -- it's too much effort. They simply rely on wish. They FEEL that what they wish must be true, and that's enough for them. They call that FAITH -- something magic.

here's the difference. evolution spawned from a theory of man, the evidence and reference is what it is. christianity is taught through most importantly faith. and the bible, (the guidelines of christianity), and is abundant with accurate historical events, people, and prophesy foretold hundreds of years before occurring. if you claim christianity has no evidence you obviously haven't read the bible, which by the way is the only book inspired by god.

Because no matter how much proof is presented to them it will go against all of their beliefs and their whole way of thinking, life style and life really. Then they would have to admit they were wrong and no one really ever wants to be proved wrong. As such it is easier for them to turn a blind eye and continue in their faith.

The bible is proof of God's non-existence.
Look at the Pope's basis for Galileo's excommunication and punishment.
The guy was telling the world about his discoveries (actually not his original, but of Cupernicus--a Christian monk). But his idea that the earth orbited t5he sun contradicted to a passage in the Bible.
Proof or not ?

True but that is how it is.....Christians rely on Faith to get them thru life, evolutionists have thier evidence to get their point across. To each his own.

Because the government has rejected christian truth, which used to be taught in schools. They have replaced it with evolution, which is taught as fact. That demands that it be proved. Of course christians should not believe it anyway. America was settled by christians and the constituition was signed by christians. We are not obligated to follow lies anymore than we were obligated to follow the King of England's lies. America needs to get back to original intent. We were shaped and blessed by God to be a christian nation. Nothing else will work here. Just because people are misbehaving in the sandbox doesn't mean we should imitate them. If you build your sandcastle on my foot, don't be surprised if you get sand kicked in your face.
