I'm going to try the unthinkable and bring the horse to water and force it to drink. Wish me luck. =P

How much evidence does an evolutionist need to accept Creation?

2007-10-04 20:34:02 · answer #1 · answered by kenny p 7 · 1 1

Show me evolution and not adaptation and I might be interested. I don't mean take something that Charles Darwin said and give it to me that would not be proof. You all don't want proof from our book so don't give me something he said as proof. I want hard evidence. Thats what science calls for in the first place to take a theory and turn it into fact and this is why it is still a theory.

Tashabal- The problem with giving you hard evidence of God's existence is we don't base our faith in Him on science. In fact it is by faith alone either you have it or you don't. However, evolutionists do base theirs on science and therefore need hard evidence to back it up.

Dreamstuff- you really like to make people feel inferior don't you? I think a counselor would have a great day with you. Probably enough hate there to make up a whole book. The thing is you boast all this "proof" and that you are trying to educate people but when people ask just where they can find this so called "proof" you have nothing to say. I don't have to boast about just how intelligent I am. I don't feel the need to brag and make people feel inferior. I know and that's all that matters.

Enough to weigh down their trailer so that it doesn't get blown away in the twister?

The arguments from incredulity in these posts are unbelievable.

Here's what I suggest: Start with the facts, that obviously most of these people don't understand.

1) Living things are capable of reproduction (whether it's asexual or sexual reproduction, that is unquestionably true, barring anomalies).

2) The DNA in living things is capable or undergoing mutations, which can be harmful, beneficial, or neutral (also unquestionably true).

3) Mutations that are not harmful can be passed from parents to offspring (again, true with a basic knowledge level of biology).

4) These mutations can persist and spread throughout a population to the point where segments of the population can no longer interbreed or have fertile offspring with other segments of the population.

links to speciation:

http://talkorigins.org/indexcc/CB/CB910.html

The line where macroevolution and microevolution begins and ends (terms, which, by the way, were invented by creationists to suit their own puposes) becomes lost, because they define macroevolution as evolution at or above the species level, and microevolution as evolution at or below the species level. In other words, even creationists can't tell the difference when it comes to the species level, where the evidence actually becomes tangible.

Biologists have terms that already fit these roles. Adaptation refers to those mutations that exist in populations that don't (or haven't built up enough yet) to cause one segement of the population to split into a new species. Speciation refers to the actual spliting of one species into 2 new ones as a result of the build up of these mutations in segments of the population (It is important to note here that speciation can also be a result of genetic drift, as opposed to the evolutionary cause--natural selection--just so that creationists can't claim we are using our own terminology incorrectly). The only reason creationists have made up the new terminology is as another attempt of confusion.

Of course, your hard core fundies still aren't going to accept the basic facts, at which point it may be better to let the horse continue to drink the imaginary water it thinks it has.

Another course may be to point out these 2 sites from TalkOrigins.org, which does a great service in not only outlining the evidence for evolution (http://talkorigins.org/indexcc/CA/CA202.html), but further points out many of the illusions or fallacies in creationism (http://talkorigins.org/indexcc/list.html).

Best of luck, and all appologies for my crude attempt at humor at the beginning of the post.

Evolution is the dumbest explanation for anything I have ever seen! If they had any real proof they would have presented it by now. What I have seen is a bunch of theories based on somebody putting together ape bones with human remains. Their ancestors may have come from apes. However, my ancestors Adam and Eve came from God. He created man in His image. There is a vast gulf between me and any monkey I have ever seen. Evolutionists are just people who present a theory and nothing more. A theory is nothing more than a guess. I KNOW the Lord created all things! I don't have to guess!

No don't do that! It's a trick question! The amount of evidence you would need would be infinite because a creation would never accept evolution.

hun, there's ample evidence that actually contradicts the theory of evolution...which is precisely why it remains a theory. the complex dynamics of the most simplest creatures could have never came into existence through mere coincidence. true, animals adapt to changing environments but nowhere in the scientific world is there evidence a species has mutated into complete different one. to believe millions of creatures sprouted from a simple single cell organism is laughable!

Look, you're dealing with americans christians (the rest seldom have trouble understanding science). That means ignorance + arrogance, which is an unbeatable combination.

But remember, they're a product of their school system (or worse, home schooling) so you have to cut them some slack.

I evolved from a sperm and a egg. Do you really think this majestic world was just blown into existence or some crap like that. If a bomb blew up in a dump would a brand new Cadillac without a scratch evolve. You can see Jesus personality in creation if you look. Wake up before it is to late. Don't let the spirit of sin blind your eyes and heart from what is plain to see.

Read any Biology book. There is tons of evidence and different types of studies in those. While you're at it, give me hard evidence of God's existence. Where did He come from anyway, did he create himself?

A true believer in God will never believe in evolution.

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning (time) God (force) created (action) the heavens (space) and the earth (matter).

When you believe this, the Bible is a piece of cake.

Hope you find your answer. Good luck : )
