What is a food that people claimed was healthy but turned out to be unhealthy? Preferably something that I can make quickly or just buy. Thanks.

Margarine comes to my mind first. They told us to avoid butter because of cholesterol, and eat margarine instead. Now we find that what makes margarine a solid is trans-fat, which contributes to heart disease.

BTW, tub margarine is now known to be best for you...has little or no trans fat, nad no cholesterol.

Well, when margarine was first invented it was supposed to be this amazing new product, less fattening than butter, healthier, blah blah blah.
Though now, they have done studies that show it to be really little more than a spreadable plastic!!! It is full of trans fats that they believe are a cancer causer. (people should eat real butter or an olive oil spread)
You can find heaps of info on it on the internet.
