Advantage or Revolution will work better. And yes, they do work. We have found at our feline specialty practice that advantage is the most gentle and most effective flea control. Revolution provides good flea protection also, as well as heartworm prevention, hook worm and round worm dewormer and will also kill out ear mites.
We often get new clients in who are using frontline and inevitably we find fleas on the cat. We've made believers out of several former frontline users.
edit: If you use the Advantage or Revolution, unless your house is COMPLETELY INFESTED with fleas, you will not have to treat your house with any bombs or harsh chemicals. The fleas are attracted to the cats. The cats have the medicine on. The fleas will die. Remember, any chemicals you use in your house have the potential to harm your cats.

Yes it does work. Frontline works very well and lasts up to a month. Frontline Plus is the same thing, but with an added ingredient that also kills the flea eggs and pupae as well as the adult fleas. You just need to make sure it gets on the cat's skin, not their fur, and with Plus they'll be covered for up to 6 weeks.
Pet stores sell other spot-ons, but these are not the same drugs as the ones you find in vet - pet store treatments do not work, and many are dangerous.

If they are infested with fleas there is 100% chance that your home is as well. Yes frontline works, and can be used in conjunction with capstar, which is the tablet that kills the fleas w/in a few hours, just doesn't last long. That's where the month of flea prevention from the frontline comes in. But if you don't treat the environment, then you could still see fleas. They will be killed as they're exposed, but will continue to hatch in carpet, furniture, bedding, etc. Check with your vet, or local home improvement store about safe treatments for your home, and yard (if your cats go outside). If you want a guarantee then call a professional exterminator. Best wishes

yes. it works if you apply it correctly. If your cats have ALOT of fleas on them I would take it to the vet and get the pill that kills them all within 24 hours. Then apply the topical stuff. Frontline and revolution products go into the body throught the skin and when a flea bites it dies because the the frontline /revolution is toxic to them.

I just walk into the vets office and buy Advantage. They don't ask me to bring my cat in. Do not give her over the counter flea medication from the store as they can be fatal. Are you positive the Frontline was for dogs. Cats can have a reaction the these flea meds including seizures. It might be wise to take her to the vet for a flea bath. While she is there, use foggers to rid your house of fleas. She has had one reaction to this medication and another could be worse.

It does work but where I work, in Oregon, we are finding that it is becoming less reliable than Advantage, so we recommend Advantage.
The cost is about the same, and they are both applied to the back of the cat's neck. Advantage works faster -- I have seen dead fleas falling off a cat within half an hour.
