I was terrified of the dark until I was 12, and can only barely stand it now. For me it's the whole if I can't see, I can't trust it, and not knowing what was there. Anything could have been there to get me (or so I thought)

I don't have children, myself, but I think most children when they are really young are often afraid of the darkness. They think the "boogie man" is going to come out and get them!

Get a really cute night light. Maybe even have her help you pick it out. Make it an angel...and tell her the angel is going to protect her while she sleeps. Tell her when she gets scared, just to look at the lit up angel.
Also leave your child's bedroom door slightly ajar, so they can see the light in the hallway as well. That's what my mom used to do with me.

Even as a grown adult today, I still have my night light on in the bathroom which I can see from my bed!

That's what they invented the night light for ,
Or turn on a small lamp with a very low wattage bulb .
And sit there for a few minutes until they drift off .
Also , a bit of warm milk & honey will knock them out faster .

It is a common childhood fear. Sometimes a nightlight, and a security blanket or a lovey might help. Try this too, I use it for my little boy. Find out what they are afraid of and use monster spray or fear begone( a small spray bottle filled with plain water or lavender water) It helps and keeps you sane

It happens sometimes. Install a soft dim night light in their room.Make frequent visits to your child,s room to check on them. This way they feel more secure knowing your watching out for them.
