If Jesus had not died, He could not have borne the wrath of God against sin. His blood would not have been shed and there would have been no forgiveness. We would have still been responsible for our own sin and failures and thus damned by a Holy, sinless God. There could have been no forgiveness.
I think this is even more important than love, since forgiveness is pretty much the basis of our hope & belief; grace and mercy and love all go along with forgiveness but seem somewhat secondary to that fundamental remission of sin and reconciliation to God.

"Christianity...[has become] the most perverted system that ever shone on man....Rogueries, absurdities and untruths were perpetrated upon the teachings of Jesus by a large band of dupes and imposters led by Paul, the first great corrupter of the teaching of Jesus." --- Thomas Jefferson
“The son-ship of Jesus Christ is the greatest fiction of human history.” (Lord Bishop of Canterbury Commission, the Spiritual Head of England, 1910.)
“The son-ship of Jesus Christ, the Trinity, the blood sacrifice of the lamb of God, atonement are not the teachings of Jesus. These are all inventions of Saint Paul who never really met Jesus.” (Hastings Rashdall, The Theory of Good and Evil)
"Initially there were 34 gospels that were compiled by word of mouth. Four were chosen for unclear reasons and 30 were left behind [burned]. (Encyclopedia Britannica)
“There is strong reason to believe that St. Paul fabricated the belief system of Christianity from Zoroastrian mythology. In order to hide Paul’s plaigerism… Christians burned the library of Alexandria in 390 A.D. Books in that library kept Mithra’s original story of what Pauline Doctrine is an almost exact copy. (George Sarton , Introduction to History of Sciences) ,

I shutter to think! We would all still be far from God! Jesus, breached a gap in which sin created! God cannot look upon sin and we are sinful creatures. When Jesus did make the sacrifice, those of us who are Christians, are covered by HIS blood, which allows the Father to see us, not our sins! Thank You Sweet, Jesus!
Plus, had He not, there would be no redemption! The word, redemption.....to redeem....buy back! Had Jesus not died for our sins, ....*shutter* to think about this! This I do know, He does redeem, He is the Redeemer and He paid a price for MY sins and for all who believe upon Him! Pure Love!
I could go on and on! However, it does make me shutter to think about this "scenario." I give Him my thanks for dying, so that I may be saved! And, for ALL who will call upon HIM!

We all would be sent to hell...Jesus died for us so that we may get to heaven and God through belief in Jesus. The only way to the Father is through The Son..

The world would still be under satan's evil dominion, subject only to God's wrath and there would be no grace, hence life on earth would differ little from life in hell.

Most likely, we would be living under they tyranny of power-hungry men, dying of creepy diseases, like genital warts, and tossing out the infirm without a blink of the eye. Just like in the good old days.
