Nicolle, wow! I am so impressed that you recognize that God is important in your life, as He is in all of our lives!
It does not matter the religion as the most important thing is our relationship, with God. Religion, is how we choose to worship Him, grow in Him, and learn much which helps in life's "valley's."
I do recommend a good BIBLE based church as you will learn much about scriptures which will help you everyday! I love to worship Him and I tend to lean towards churches who teach and worship. But, you know, it is far better that we pray about where God wants you to be. In as much, I am going to pray that God guides you to the Church which He desires for you to be.
Do not be anxious about looking like the new kid on the block! You are there seeking a deeper relationship with the Lord, to find a place to learn and grow. True Christians will welcome you and be grateful that you came to their church!
Know that I am praying that His will be done for you as His is far better than anyones! I am praying He guides you and that your soul finds what it is seeking.
Blessings

I have been to churches in several denominations. Right now I work at a Presbyterian church, and that might be a good place for you to start, because the people are very understanding. They will be very accepting. They will accept your baptism from any where.
If you are going through a lot of troubles, they can have someone help you -- a Stephen Minister. That is a regular person who has had training in helping people with a wide variety of problems.
The other place I would recommend is a Willow Creek Association non-denominational church. You can find one in your area by searching at www.willowcreek.com Just click on "find a church" or "search for a church."
They are a bible-based church association that is geared toward people just like you who are taking the first steps on their faith journey.
No on will look at you weird! They will be happy to have you there. When you get there, tell the greeters that you are a visitor and they will get you started. Then be sure to say hi to the pastor after church.
I hope this helps you get on the right path.
Peace and grace to you, dear one.

Any Christian church worth existing will welcome you. Realize though that every church has its hypocrites ("actors" in Greek). A truly Christian church will have a good core group of people who are mature Christians.
I would look on the Internet for "confessional Lutheran" churches. They are the closest to the Bible. I went to a bad church once where the pastor had a personality disorder. So there could be that problem. We live in a sinful world. What can I say. Visit for a while, and if it seems like a normal place, stay and be fed by God's Word. If all they do is wave their hands in the air and praise God without knowing why, then move on. The church should teach that we're "dead-in-our-trespasses-and-sins" sinners and the most important thing we need is forgiveness from Christ. Because we are spiritually dead, we can't choose Christ, He chooses us. I'll pray for you. God bless your search.

When you start going to church it will help you figure out what denomination you like best. There is not a "right" or "wrong" church to go to; you just need to find the one that you like the best, where you feel like you can learn from the teaching best and enjoy being around the other people there. It's usually easiest to start visiting some churches closest to where you live. I think most pastors would be happy to talk to you about what the church is like, what they believe, and how they might be able to help you. Most churches like having visitors and won't look at you weird or reject you. Mostly it's important just to visit some churches and see where your comfort level is. The more you try it, the more you will learn about what religions make the most sense to you and where you like best.
I would encourage you also to read the Bible and pray. God is perfectly capable of directing you to the perfect church family!

I agree with the lady who recommended a praise and worship center. It will depend on what's going on in your area. I have been to a lot of different churches and depending on the area that I am living it... it may be a Baptist church that is really on fire for God..in another area it may be a Church of God. The most important thing to do is to get out there and shop around. Pray for God to lead you and to give you a sense of peace when you land where He wants you to be. God bless!!!

That is WONDERFUL that you want to go to church!! You could just go visit several. I am sure they would all want you to come back....but you do nee to choose the right one. The way to know what is truth is to study God's Word...the Bible. Ask God for help to know what is truth. You can go online and pull up the doctrines of any church...which should have Bible proof. The bottom line for what is truth is God's law...the 10 commandments which are in Exodus 20. God says that the people that will get into heaven are the ones who obey His law. (Rev.22:14) We cannot be good enough to get into heaven, eternal life is a gift....but because we love God we want to obey Him. I will pray for you to find the right church and that you will feel loved in the family of God.

A neighborhood church is always the best kind sweetie. Look around see what you like that's always the best policy. Maybe someone at work, school or one of your friends have a church that they go to that they could share with you. Ask around. It's hard to find a good church now-a-days, but I'm sure there's one out there. I'll pray that you find one.Good luck sweetie.

Hi you should pray about it. But just in case you have prayed and your answer was to ask on here, Then I think you need to get your phone book and Look up the closest Church of Jesus Christ L.D.S. and give the number that you see listed a call on Sunday. They will not only except you, but will teach you the Gospel principles where you understand them. Don't worry about baptism just yet first concentrate on finding the truth first then the lord will direct you where you need to go after that. God bless and good luck.

Personally, I would find a Baptist Church. In the absence of a Baptist Church, I would visit some and stick with the one that follows the Bible. If it doesn't align with Scripture, it isn't of God.
