In the movie "Animal House" the Tim Matheson character seemed to have the best luck in the produce section, specifically the cucumber display. I never had much luck with his line though ("Mine's bigger...").
I have found that preparation is important.
Well groomed, lightly scented and well pressed trousers and shirt. You want to look like a well-to-do young man with a purpose (who has been side-tracked by an irresistable bait) and not a grungy student or unemployed geek who's just randy.
Also, know your prey. You will be much more successful in bagging a trophy if you find them in pairs or threes. These cats can become much more aggressive with an audience and can sometimes be very competitive when they spy a prize.
Time of the hunt can vary, but the good times are an hour or so prior to lunch and mid afternoon. You are looking for a cougar with free time, not one that's rushing to put dinner on the table after a day at the office. Late afternoon and early evening may seem like active prowling times, but there are many false positives about at these times that can distract you from the objective.
When you spot a target, keep your eye on it. Cougars on the prowl, unlike other cats of the same breed, are not at all shy about extended eye contact. In fact, they like it. They have put a lot of effort into perparing their 'bait' and they enjoy someone appreciating the results of their labors.
After you have been spotted, work the smile. If returned, you need to move quickly and decisively. It's time for the line. You want to politely chat with some casual small talk and then turn the conversation serious quickly. Again, unlike the younger and less expereinced ones, cougars are not offended by suggestive and direct offers. If you have gotten this far, they are already thinking it anyway. Don't be crude of course, be a gentleman.
This is where the pre-lunch hunt really shines. Invite yourself, or simply ask what a guy has to do to be invited, over to her place for lunch. If that's not good for her, she'll recommend an alternative. Always have your place presentable just in case.
Good luck and good hunting.

The best place to spot the wild cougar in a supermarket is near the wine aisle, the wild cougar graze in the wine aisle frequently. The best ammo to use is "handloads" specifically tailored to the specific breed of cougar you might encounter.

Stevieboy is right.
Letting that critter go will be even more dangerous than catching him.
I saw a video of game rangers somewhere in Africa trying to release a leopard from a cage in their truck. The leopard ended up going through the driver's window into the cab of the truck. He was making like a high-speed blender with all for sets of claws while holding on with his teeth. The driver ended up looking like he'd fallen into a meat grinder before they peeled that cat off him.

It should be relatively straightforward. Make it clear you're available by heading for the TV dinner section and picking up one meal. Then casually stoll past the first cougar you see and make some lame reference to the price of milk going up. They'll do the rest.

1) Sprinkle fresh fish with benadryl capsules and NyQuil, or if your Supermarket has prescription drugs use muscle relaxants and opiod receptor agonists
2) Throw fresh fish on floor
3) Wait til he gets all dopey looking and flip a shopping cart on him to cage him in.
The real question is, now that you've caught him, what are you going to do to him?
