Usually if you have a low GPA, then you can offset that with having a high SAT or ACT score. It also depends on the classes and type of class you take, so it's hard to answer that question.

You should maybe consider community college first. Ok, I know, that sounds bad. But I did it, I never took the SAT in high school, I went to community college, did ok, and sat
next to 'steller' students at UCLA. I graduated this June with a BS in Biology. All those 'smart' kids that got super high GPAs and SAT scores during high school are just numbers, they are not special. I screwed up in high school only for them to be my lab partners, and let me tell you, they are not absolute smart kids. We all have the same intelligence.
