I need to be able to move it freely not on any path. I think I have to do it in visual basic, I just do not know how to.
What I want to do is to run powerpoint with a football field background then have a football that I can grab and move around the field in any direction?

Hi,

I think Mr Az means he wants to be able to freely move the picture of the football around the screen by dragging it with the mouse while the presentation is running.

PowerPoint does not support this behavior, although I've seen it requested in the past.

If you're willing to do some programming you can probably achieve the effect you desire with Microsoft Silverlight (links-Jim below).

Popfly is a web site that people using Silverlight use to share their creations and build their projects in a community environment. There are several existing projects made in Silverlight that let you move objects around with the mouse and you can borrow and build from them.

The football field can be the static backgound main photo.
The football has to be in a clear gif saved file format and then you can place it wherever you like and save it that way.
The gif file football will just be a football on its own with no background in it. A Clear gif.

you use the image of the football, select custom animations, select motion paths, and choose custom path. Now the ball can move anywhere on the field.
