I'm moving to the Bronx after the holidays and I'm wondering what Bedford Park is like. I always hear bad things about South Bronx, but I'm wondering if North Bronx is any different. I'll be working in Manhattan, so I'm going to have to ride the 4 and D trains back home at night. The thing I'm afraid of is riding through South Bronx at night. I'm sure I won't be getting off between Manhattan and the Bronx, but what about the ride there. That's the only thing I'm worried about. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The North Bronx is nice especially around Riverdale. Also Woodlawn, Van Cortland, and Moshula Parkway are nice. As far as the subway, plenty of Transit police all over the place.

There are some really nice apts in that area, some are very large with sunken living rooms. It's basically working class around there. Depends on how late you'll be returning from work on how dangerous it might be. You'll be alright. Good Lukc.
