They are only fighting over land that was promised to them by God; So, why can't they just share it without the "Holy War" theme?

That's the problem. Islam uses the Hebrew religion as a foundation to build on. Muslims feel Jews are wrong in clinging to the older religion . (as in dead wrong ) The Christian religion also uses the Hebrew religion as a foundation. And Christians over many centuries have had those same feelings toward Jews. Today most Christians are willing to accept Jews as the people they are and not worry about their religion.

To add to the similarities they both came from the same person Abraham. The beliefs between the two are very different. Throughout the old testament prophecies were made the Jews (Hebrews) would have trouble from the seed of Ishmael. Abraham's son from Hagar. His wife's servant. Read Genesis you would be amazed by the History.

Far from similar, but the issue centers around the Abrahamic Covenant.
The Bible states repeatedly in both Testaments that Abraham's descendants will be blessed through the offspring of Isaac. Muslims believe Ishmael will be the son through which the blessings will come.

First, Abraham had 2 sons, Isaac by his wife Sarah, and Ishmael by his wife's handmaid Hagar. God intended for Isaac to continue Abraham's lineage. Ishmael went a different direction.

Then Isaac had twins, Jacob and Esau. Jacob took Esau's birthright and blessing from his father. Esau went to live with Ishmael and married one of Ishmael's daughters. Esau's descendants were the Edomites. There was continual conflict between them and Jacob's descendants (the Jewish people). It continues today, though both Jews and Muslims (and Christians) consider Abraham as the father of their religions.

The lands that God promised and gave to Abraham's descendants through Jacob and Isaac is definitely a factor in conflicts.

You mean as religions? No more so than between Muslims and Christians. In fact, historically we've gotten along better than Muslims and Christians.

I can even go pray in a mosque and a Muslim can pray in a synagogue without violating the tenents of our faiths. However, neither religion permits praying in a church.

Because God promised Abraham a son with his wife Sarah but they got tired of waiting and Abraham had a son with a servant. That son was the beginning of the Islam nation while the legitimate son with Sarah was the beginning of the Jewish nation.

The true Muslims understand their faith and understand Jews as people who believe in the same things they do.

The misunderstanding lies in politics, personal opinions and cultural traditions.

Is the God of Judaism, Christianity and Islam the same God?
The Jewish and Christian God are the same. Islam has a man-made god which is false. Jewish and Islam believers, if they were to die today, would not go to heaven.

How do the Jews and Christians have the same God? Good question, the Christians believe God came to earth as a man named Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus was the perfect sacrifice without sin. Jesus shed His blood for us. Without blood there is no forgiveness of sins. The Jewish belief has animal sacrifices to cover their sins and do not acknowledge Jesus as the Savior. Once Jesus died on the cross for us, He did not allow blood from animal sacrifices to cover sins anymore.

As for Muslims, they believe Jesus was a prophet and not God. They believe that good works has to outweigh the bad works, which is a works based religion. Christians believe salvation is a gift of God. (Once we are saved though, we will have evidence of it with good works, but our works do not save us.)

If you are not following Jesus you are following a thief. Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

The devil is this thief that comes up with false teachers and religions. False teachers and religions only come to steal, kill, and destroy. So this makes the devil a liar. We have already learned that Jesus is the truth. Do you want to follow a liar or the way, the truth, and the life?
