Mom will litter train them if you let her. The cats I've had with litter box issues have all been orphaned or removed from the Mom too soon. They also tend to be much more neurotic when taken away too soon. Even when they are weaned they have a lot to learn about being a good cat - stuff their Mom is more than willing to teach them and stuff a human, however well intentioned, cannot. Also, when they are removed too soon they often don't learn bite inhibition which makes them pretty much a pain (literally). So you can remove them at 6 weeks and they'll still live - but to get the best cats you should wait until 9-12 weeks.

They have to be at least 8 weeks and 2 lbs. to be spayed as well - and if, perhaps you were responsible for making the kittens, then you are responsible for getting them neutered. There are agencies and grants that might be able to help you with that, depending on where you live. Check the various cat rescues in your area - or if your area is small and you live in U.S. or Canada, check on petfinder to find the closest cat rescues and ask for their advice. They may know of a way to get the kittens neutered cheap or free.

At least 10-12 weeks. they are still nursing from their mother for their nutrition. they should get help with litter habits from momma as well. if you happen to catch them when she isn't around to reprimand, you could maybe take them very very very gently by the scruff of the neck and pick them up by the bottom and set them in the litter box. only do that if you catch them In the act tho- otherwise they won't understand. Also- are you planning on getting the mother spayed? You should never give animals away for free in the paper or on sited like craigslist. sadly, there are mean bad people that could take your kitties to be bait in a dog fight, experimented on, or any other number of horrible things. not trying to be a pessimist, just real. there are just so many pets put to sleep and abandoned. be responsible.

you need to make sure that they are weined from their mother and that they're eating kitten food for at least 2-3 weeks. this will insure that they're well establish eaters. i've have several litters of kitten and if the mother uses a litter box than they will learn by example. just keep working.

kittens are usually ready when they are about 10 weeks old. if they are not drinking from mom, are using the litter box well and are eating kitten food good they are ready to go. make sure it is not a litter that is dusty ot clumping. clumping litter can cause health problems and dusty litter can cause respitory problems.

In my state it is illegal to give away/sell animals before 8 weeks of age. It is also required that they are dewormed and have their first shots. Usually you ask for a rehoming fee from the prospective owners to cover the costs of that. NEVER give away a free animal. People who get free animals tend never to spend one dime on their care or spaying/neutering. There was just a horrible case about 3 adult cats "free to good home" advertised on craigslist, and one guy adopted the 3 cats from different people and duct taped them to a board, slit their throats, disemboweled them and strangled them with fishing line. These were cats that came from loving homes and who trusted people. Do not give away free cats!

when they have stopped nursing from their mother and are eating kitten food and going to the litter box without mammas help. usually 9-11 weeks. depending on the mamma and the kittens. give your mamma the kitten food to it helps her get back the the nutrients lost from nursing... feed it to her about 2 months after the kittens have left her!

You should keep them. There aren't enough homes for all the cats out there. If you give yours away, then that many more kittens will die. You made a concious decision to have kittens, live with it -- you now have cats. It is totally immoral and irresponsible for you to have kittens and then just give them away. Please spay your cat if you can't keep kittens. Geez!
(if you don't keep them, then CONGRATULATIONS FOR KILLING CATS!!! YOU MAKE ME SICK!!)

ps, You took a year off the life of your cat, who you caused much suffering. I hope you're proud of yourself! They should not let people like you have animals, since you treat them like sex slaves. Yuck is all I can say about you.

Wait until they are 8 weeks old at least. And then get mama spayed right away. The world doesn't need more and more kittens that can't find homes.
