IT'S A VERY WELL EDUCATED TOOTH THAT IS REALLY SMART.
LOL, IT'S PART OF A SECOND SET OF MOLARS MOST FOLKS GET BETWEEN 17-24. THESE ARE KNOWN AS THIRD MOLARS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE LAST SET OF PERMANENT MOLARS TO ERUPT.

Wisdom tooth is a lay-mans term of 3rd molar. It is called wisdom is because it erupts(come out from your gums) in late teens to early adult stage. At 18 years of age where we are considered legally an "adult" ( "where we are supposed to differentiate what is right from wrong" :) ) sorry kids....

the wisdom is the tooth that will erupt(emerge) last in u mouth
we call them the 3rd molars.. in which usually erupt during 18-24years of age.. the main problem that usually occur is the tooth will no erupt..we call them as impacted wisdom teeth usually in the lower jaw..if it is painful or damaging the nearby tooth..dentist will take it out(minor oral surgery)

its really your 3rd set of molars.
most people get them taken out because they hurt, push they other teeth, or mess up their bite.
