The United Nations Human Rights Commission has set up a charter of basic human rights. One such right is the right to say "No thanks" without retribution or punishment.
Despite the impression that girls will give, both sexes have this basic human right.

People, regardless of gender, should treat others kindly and with respect. Do people have a right to reject one another? It sounds pretty rude to reject people. Do you mean do they have a right not to date someone they don't wish to date? Well certainly they have that right. We don't have indentured servitude dating these days. So you can feel free to not date anyone at all. Do you have the right to date someone for awhile and then 'reject' them by saying "Hey! I can't date you anymore! You are too ugly!" Well that is just cruel and inexcusable. I don't mean that you have to keep dating someone forever. You can also feel free to stop dating anyone any time. But you need to let them know in a kind and respectful way. That does not include calling them ugly to anyone. Neither girls nor guys need date anyone they don't want to and the reason is simply personal choice. It can be because you don't like the way they tie their shoes or cross the street. You still have the right. But no, you do not have any right to be cruel to other people for any reason.

People have their rights. Girls are just a lot more emotional about rejection and they aren't afraid to show it either. There's no double standard or anything. If guys acted as emotional as girls do when they get rejected, I'm sure girls would be thinking the same thing you're thinking.

Why are girls attracted to guys who are jerks? These are the unanswerable questions of the nature of human sexuality. Edit: As a side note, I am amazed by the number of people on here who commented on the whole chasing thing, more so because they seem to think that all men chase all women. As a woman, I have to say, I hate being chased. I prefer to pursue the man, and if he tries to pursue me or gives in to me too easily, I will back off until he loses interest, and then go after him again. I don't understand the whole "hard to get" thing, because I either want to get a guy, or I don't, and he will know immediately which way it is. But maybe I'm just weird that way. :P @ Angry Candy - Or, she could be a semi-feminist. And instead of looking for a "provider" or "mark" because she doesn't need either, she is just looking for a companion in a man. Sort of like me.

You have a right to reject anyone you are not attracted to for whatever reason. Just be kind about it.
