Hi There!
I think our honeymoon stage lasted about a year and a half, then it turned to honey poo! lol..
we are hitting about 3 years in November and we were actually talking about this the other day, how after that stage ended we learned what it's like to accommodate each others lives. you really learn more about each other after the stage cause it's the real you! :)

I am engaged and have been with my guy for 5 years. THe honey moon phase probably lasted about 2 years, then we found out who we REALLY were. Luckily we are both very much in love so we were able to work through our differences and make it work.. We know there are going to be good times and bad time and that a committment is about NOT being selfish. We both are there for each other and know what it takes to make it work. But the real YOU doesn't come out for at least 2 years..... so you know when people get married before they have even been dating for 2 years, they may be in trouble!!!

Those two questions are unrelated.
Honeymoon periods vary from a few days to a few years. Longest I've ever had was three years.
Forever is an entirely separate accomplishment. If, who you really are, is still pretty smitten with who he really is AFTER the honeymoon is over; you have a chance. Respect will matter now as much as longing.

My husband and I have been through a lot together, and through it all we've mostly been in a "honeymoon phase". It doesn't ever have to end a long as you're both committed to the same thing...each other.

They are very unpredictable you never know when their rage and anger will attack you. I say get out while you can. I was married for 7 years in a physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive relationship. I kept thinking he would change, but no luck at all. He would tell me he loved me right after, but he was never truly sorry because he would do it again and again.

in the book the five languages of love i believe it states that after two years the "lovey dovey" stage begins to wear off. I am curious to see what other people think. Good Question.

this is really sketchy because i believe that "true love" if when it always feels amazing and fresh with the person youre with.. if your starting to get annoyed and now sure if you can deal with certain things.. than hes not the one you should spend the rest of your life with... beginnings are amazing ..thats why you date.. but when youre chosing your life partner you need to be with them for years and see if that initial spark is still there.. cuz if its not.. whats the point?
