With the numbers of open wheel drivers coming to NASCAR shows several things;
First it shows the popularity of NASCAR and stock car racing.
Second it shows the decline in the open wheel racing.
Third it gets stockcar fans a chance to see drivers from other series.
And forth it is an economic plus with international sponsors coming on board.
Overall it is good for the sport, but hard cold bottom line is there is a damn good full body racer that will not get a chance to drive because of a superstar from another series getting a free ride.

I think it is great. If NASCAR is stopping the the advancement of the Busch drivers making it by allowing so many cup driver go fro that title too I hope the open wheelers come in learn the difference in the weight of the cars and kick some NASCAR butt.
This is good to see just how the two series will compare in the talent area too. The open wheel stuff is for the young. There cars are so demanding on reaction that it is easy to get a step behind a new fresh young driver.
They actually use the work your way up in other series to make it to the big boys league and it works in there series. Brian France is such an *** all he can see is $$$ right now and I am sure he is not looking to far ahead or he will see the fading of his little make the rules up as we go along and this rule has been here for ages in hockey let use it in my series.

Definitely good for the sport. It lends more credibility to the sport on the international level and increases competition. Very few of the open wheel drivers have been very successful (Tony Stewart, Jim Clark and Dan Gurney being exceptions) but that is up to the drivers not the sport itself.
It is draining talent from IRL and Champcar who keep losing potential stars to nascar.

I think it's great. It brings in more fans. The new open wheel drivers competing will actually show how great some of the cup drivers are.
Some of the drivers will do fairly well and some wont. This situation is going to be very interesting and good overall for Nascar.

With only a few exceptions, open wheel drivers who come over to stock car racing seem to struggle.
The thing I find funny is that for years F1 drivers held such an arrogant attitude over NASCAR racing because of the style - road course racing vs. ovals. Now all the F1 drivers are fighting to get into NASCAR. Such irony. There is only one thing that can explain this new attitude - money. They don't care about the roots - they don't care about the fans - they don't care about TV. They know that they can make the most money racing in NASCAR. Bottom line.
But I say let them in...let them struggle, make enemies, and let them make people hate them. I will be sitting on my couch every Sunday laughing my @*$ off at these pathetic fools trying to earn the almighty American Dollar. Europe can suck eggs!

I think it is a tragedy for the sport.,the younger guys in Busch have worked hard - some many years to make it to the big league...just to have the door slammed in their face because of the defection of open wheel drivers..anymore in NASCAR talent has nothing to do with it, just have a foreign accent, or be able to sell some trinkets...and when the money flows in, NASCAR is happy..screw the young talent...

It is good for the sport, and we needn't worry about "foreigners" taking over the sport, because I still believe that, because of their experience on short tracks and dirt tracks, the American drivers will continue to dominate. Franchitti and Sam Hornish, Jr have the best chance of showing success, because they do have some experience in stock cars, and a lot of experience racing wheel to wheel on ovals. JPM will "get it" eventually, and we'll see how adaptable Jaques V is in his second truck race, Friday, and if he qualifies for the 499.

I think that it will be good for NASCAR, because it will
broaden the fan base. But not necessarily good for the
sport. Just because they did well in open wheel cars doesn't
mean that they can drive the stock cars. And unless they get
on a really good team, they'll just have top 20 finishes at
best.

I dont like it but I dont think its bad for the sport, NASCAR can survive. They really should stick to driving in France and eating caviar....I wonder if they will make themselves as accessible to fans like the current drivers....

Might be good for Nascar, not so good for the IRL, Champcar, or Formula 1. The IRL and Champcar continue to lose some of their biggest stars. This doesn't help either series at all.
