How does someone become Born Again?? What do you crawl back on Moms womb and have her go through labor all over again so your born anew again? Really I don't get the concept, it sounds to me like fanaticism that even the average Christian tends to shy away from. I'm not bashing if it sounds it I truly am curious as to what you mean when you say you are Born again? How did you die in the first place?
Would it not make more sense to say i have converted to or changed my faith to rather than born again? just sounds so odd. My MOM at 68 would NEVER birth me a second time at her age!!!
So tell me please how do you do it honestly it is a ritual or prayer or party or just say it and its done or do you fill out paperwork at a special church?
I know I cracked a couple jokes above but I'm not joking about the question. My sister is one and her son and I have tried to ask them but they cannot explain it to me in any way that makes sense to me. All I hear about is this odd Rapture.

rainbluecats - that makes some sense to me. I am not a religious person but I am open to all opinions and faith, i am pagan but i still want to learn and know about this and though I did not understand all the scripture, i did enough to understand what you are saying. it is a spiritual rebirth. So how does one go about it then?

Im not religious either you know this Wolf but my sister is a jehova witness whatever it is they supposedy witnessed is beyond me but i know that to be born again as funny as that sounded having mom give birth to you again it is a rebirth of the mind, spirit and soul. An internal cleansing so to speak,
Using your MA training I know you have, it is like meditating for a long time and emptying yourself of thought and becoming a blank sheet. Then they say all you have to do it stay open and accept Jesus as your saviour and its done.
i personally do not believe in it but that is irrelavant. They do and that is what you wanted to know.
It would be real cool though if they had to climb back into moms womb and be born lol, there would be far less of them then cause I know many of mom that would not go through that again for you!! LOL nice question!

well, the rapture has little to do with being "born again" excpet that those that believe in the rapture in the common modern way, only those that are born again will be included in the rapture- that is another subject for another time.
Being born again does not mean in the physical sense, there is no ritual, paperwork, or required deed in order to be born again.
It goes beyond just changing a belief or religion - it is coming into the abundant life God has prepared for us spiritually.
Born again is a difficult concept to explain.
Our physical bodies have been birthed, there is no need for them to be born again - umless we know the Lord, our spiritual selves are dead, we cannot know life abundantly without knowing the saving grace given to us through Jesus. When we come to that knowledge and are "born in the Spirit" that is what is known and understood as born again- we must humble ourselves , lay down everything we think we know to be true and everything we believe and allow God to give us His wisdom and understanding- being born into the kingdom of God is 'born again'
A very wise man, Nicodemus, asked the same question to Jesus - wise because he asked what he did not understand and because he listened when Jesus spoke-
this can be found in John 3

If you have a Bible, read the 3rd chapter of the gospel of John. There a man named Nicodemus asked the same question you did, nearly word for word.
There is no doubt that there is evil in the world. The Bible says we have all broken God's laws at one time or another (Romans 3:10,23).
If a man commits murder, then suicude the penalty for the murder has been paid; there is no further legal action to be taken. In the same way, the only way to pay for our sins against God is by death, meaning our eternal seperation from him (Romans 6:23). He cannot be in the presence of sin. Yet, he loves each and every one of us so much that he can't bear to be apart from us. How can this be reconciled?
Enter Jesus. Jesus was born without sin and never committed a sin while alive. He therefore had no penalty of his own to die for. However, knowing that you and I and a host of others did, he volunteered to take our punishment for us. (Romans 5:8). Thus, God's law for the punisment for sin is satisfied and we can therefore have a relationship with God.
The way this is accomplished is described in Romans 10:9-10. "If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart, you will be saved" from having to pay your own debt for sin.
It's like getting a second chance at life. It's like going back and doing it right this time. So radical is the freedom that forgiveness brings that it feels like you are starting life all over. In that sense, you have been "born again". Not physically, but in your relation to God and his love for you, which is beyond measure.
Pray the best you know how to confess these things with your mouth, believe them in your heart and you will be Born Again.

No, you cannot go back into your mom lol. When you are born, you are born of flesh with a sin nature. You are born being dead in the spirit. To be born again is to be born spiritually. You ask Jesus to come into your heart, then He comes in and lives within you. God has designed everyone that is born on earth to have a place deep inside them that only God can dwell. When He comes in you are born alive within your spirit. You are really like a new born baby, learning the ways of God. Just like you grow in your human body, your spirit man also grows up to become a mature Christian. When you ask Jesus into your heart, you will change and the spiritual concepts start to make sense, because now you are alive, before you were dead. Just pray "Jesus come into my heart, forgive me for my sins" It is really that easy. You will never regret it, something wonderful will start to take place. Life really will start to make sense and the love and acceptance you will feel from God is beautiful. No paperwork is necessary, just give Him your heart and life. Once you do this you belong to His Church, you are His and will go with the rest of us in the rapture to live with Him for all eternity. God Bless You and let us know if you prayed!

Read in the Bible in the book of John chapter 3, it explains it all, one thing is for sure, thats the only way to Heaven. Anything else will get you an eternity with the devil, of course if you don't believe in God you can't believe in the devil. I personally wouldn't want to take that chance but thats me. I believe the Holy Bible, I believe Jesus Christ died on a cross for me. He shed his perfect blood as a sacrifice for my sins. Look up John 3:16 and remember it, you will be probably here it on judgement day. Hebrew 9:27, And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: If you are not born again spiritualy you will not see the Kingdom of heaven. If you are born again, you have a personal relationship with Jesus because his Holy Spirit lives in your heart. It is a joyful feeling, a feeling of peace and security. Without it there is no Hope. Being born again is not hard, just say this simple prayer believing on Jesus Christ by faith and you can be saved, if you believe Jesus is the Saviour of the world and that he washed away your sins at calvery, just pray, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

I know it`s kind of confusing till you experience it, but here goes...
Jesus said we must be born again, but he said the second birth was a spiritual birth not a rebirth of the flesh or physical body.
we must surrender our lives to him, and allow his desires to become our desires, acknowledging that his ways are better for us than our own.
then we "die daily" spiritually speaking, by seeking his will rather than our own, learning to live a Godly life, thinking and acting on what is good rather than what is evil and daily learning the difference!
this does not mean you become some sort of robot with no mind of your own, but the more you learn of God and his ways, and how much He really does love us, and the more you get to know him, the more your desire will grow to please him with your life!
the Bible says when you accept Christ as Lord and savior, that old things, the old man, will pass away, spiritually, and all things will be made new, the new man!
therein is the born again experience!
hope that helps!!!!
P.S. there is a prayer you should pray in your own words acknowledging the need for Jesus as Savior, believing that he died for our sins, is risen from the dead, and is praying continualy for us to his father, inviting him into your life and heart as Lord and Savior!
God bless you and keep you and make his face to shine upon you for making your decision to live for him!
you`ll be amazed at how he will bless you!

There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
John 3:1-8, NKJV
It's a spiritual rebirth, like a re-dedication of your life to Christ.
Some believe that water baptism is necessary for this as I do but some do not.

EVERY CHILD IS BORN A SINNER, AND TO BE REBORN YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS A SAVIOR, AND FOLLOW HIM. YOU ARE A NEW PERSON INSIDE OUT. YOU CHANGE IN SO MANY WAYS YOU WILL BE AMAZED ON WHAT YOU FEEL.
REBORN IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS. READ THE BIBLE AND FIND IN THE BACK TO SEE IF REBORN IS THERE FOR YOU TO READ.
Save Your Life! People dont die they become reborn. If you believe in the story of jesus christ you will receive eternal life. Jesus took away all of your sins when He was baptized by john the baptist, thereby cleansing you of all your sins you ever committed on earth. Then Jesus was punished for your sins by suffering on the cross, thereby clearing your path to Heaven. So that means that no matter what, you are going to heaven. Always Have Hope and Faith in God.

There’s more to physical life, meaning it’s not just our skin and bones that live, but that there is also our soul. (You would agree that you have or are a soul, would you not?) It’s not the physical body being born again, but the soul. The term “conversion” actually is somewhat interchangeable with one being “born again,” but being born again has a deeper meaning than conversion. Whereas conversion could mean that one changes his allegiance to a different faith, being born again is a LITERAL being born into a different or heavenly “world” or “kingdom.” This is why you’ve probably heard of the phrases, “kingdom of light” and the “kingdom of darkness.” These are literal kingdoms. Being born again is more than just a mere change of mind or change of willful allegiance to a different object of worship. Being born again is a REAL/ACTUAL BIRTH of one’s spirit into the Kingdom of God. When one was an unbeliever, his heart would have been full of rebellion against God (indifference is also a form of rebellion). But when one is LITERALLY born into the Kingdom of God, he is a totally different/new soul. It would be as if you were once a Smith & had Smith DNA (i.e., say, of the world; not born again; still a soul tied to the kingdom of darkness), but now you are a Divine & correspondingly have Divine DNA (i.e., of the Kingdom of Heaven; a soul now connected to God; a LITERAL spiritual child of God). This is not just in theory, but in practice. When one is “born again,” his heart allegiance is now to God, whereas before, the allegiance was to the self and other things except God. One’s desires change AUTOMATICALLY towards the things of God (i.e., wants to follow Him and His ways) because his heart is created anew with a spiritual DNA suited for and longing for heaven. One’s outlook on life TOTALLY changes (especially if he had a very bad life), because a LITERAL spiritual veil would have been lifted from his eyes. The outlook is now full of hope, joy, faith, excitement, peace, etc., as you’ve probably heard many Christians speak of. Christians are not making this up. It’s the real deal. They can’t help being the way they are as Christians – I’m talking about the “seemingly fruity” attitude that they have, not the bad attitudes. One reason for the bad attitude & behavior are simply a result of not having daily communed with the LORD as they should have, & therefore they’re low on God’s graces. Because of the lack of daily communing with the LORD, the sins they stumble in daily remain on their soul, & this dirt eeks out instead of God’s grace. Another reason for the bad reactions is simply that we’re continuously learning to “walk” in the ways of God. That means: a lot of continual healing from the past, getting rid of old habits & adopting new & godly habits, etc. I must tell you, the stumbling will continue, because this cleansing (called “sanctification”) is designed by God to continue until we physically die or get raptured first (Don't ask me why He designed it that way. I just know that's the fact). So don’t expect Christians to be perfect. It isn’t going to happen as long as we’re still living here. As I’ve said many times, Christians are all human, but saved by God’s grace.

This is the online Bible that I use. I have it cued to John 3, because what you are asking is practically word for word of what Nicodemus (a teacher of Jewish Law) , asked Jesus.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203&version=31
Nicodemus asked the question,
John 3:4"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
To which Jesus answered,
5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
In these verses Jesus is talking about born of water or of the 'flesh' (that is; natural birth), and the Spirit. The 'Spirit' part is where people get hung up typically.
What they need to learn is that the Spirit He is referring to is the Spirit of God. He promises that Spirit at the End of John chapter 15, and in the midst of John chapter 16.
The Spirit of God is God, and He comes to those who trust Him. They become what is called elsewhere, "A New Creature", something that the world hadn't seen before. That is: Part sinful natured being, and Part divine entity- God.
As far fetched as it seems, God is able to help us not only 'to be saved', but also teach us, comfort us, and guide us to become a people who look to Him for those things.
So we are then, by being Baptized in His Spirit, God's people. And it doesn't matter if we are Jewish or not, slaves or free men, we all can begin to trust God and live as a people who are not bound to this Earth. The promise of a future life with Him is what we hold onto in hope, or faith.
The dying that is referred to in the Bible is talking about a dying of will. We set ourselves aside in order to be made according to what God wants us to be, and what He wants for us. And we do that willingly. Many people refer to this as 'repentance': A turning away from the sinful self and towards God and what He promised.
There are so many things I can get into on all these things. But I do not want to bog you down with all sorts of liturgy.
The 'prayer' that many talk about is typically viewd as kneeling on your knees and putting your hands together like a Hallmark card. I would say that the kneeling thing you might want to do, especially if you are truly sorry for how wrong you might be, and how much harm you might have caused others, but the real important thing is that you tell God that you trust Him, that you want to be okay with Him- have peace with Him.
I hope this helped you understand.
You can e-mail me if you want to discuss anything about the Bible. Just don't load me up with 50 questions at a time.
