The English translation of John 14.6 may have not been what Jesus said? He spoke Aramaic, not English. That it is a translation of a Greek manuscript, not an Aramaic original. In the Greek, the English word “the” doesn’t appear.

So does the text says, “I am way, I am truth, I am life.” ?
While the word “the” would “change everything.

Is this a translator’s convention, not an exact rendering of what Jesus said?

The same Greek word "hodos" is translated as " the way" in Matthew 3:3 as a quote of Isaiah.

"For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight."

Isaiah 40:3 is translated as follows....of course your concern can be carried over into the Hebrew translation and we can question the use of "the" in the translation. It is, however, more difficult to question the Hebrew translation as the most likely one.

"The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God."

Now if we really want to turn everything upside down, I suppose we can use "a" instead of "the" in the John 14 passage....but this is all really academically grasping at straws because "no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" ought to be enough to clear up the intent and the right translation of the passage. The Greek is very straightforward and sound in regards to the last part of the verse.

well... it could mean... no man comes to the father but by being the son... as in accepting his (or her) place as his child... this concept lends towards a more gnostic idea that God is within us... and the realization, the experience of this is being fully His child... in that we experience the presence of God in a very real tactile way... here and now. Make your eyes not blind, your ears not deaf, your tongue not bland... and you will experience what is always present. The idea that the word the in I am the way the truth the life is not necessarily exclusive... however... if you were to associate a prophets teaching with an empires religion you would have to create a go between the people and God. This allows an emperor to claim he is the earthly representative of this go between, or a church to make this claim. A gnostic interpretation would do exactly the opposite. Ask yourself... why do you not even consider a path of gnosis rather than that of fundementalism? And why? Why would many of you consider me to be a heretic?

Different Bibles are translated differently. Go to biblegateway.com to see different translations. In some it will say the way, the truth, the life (and that no one comes to the Father exept through me). In others it will say way, truth, life.Though "the" clarifies that Jesus is the only way to Heaven, so does the following verse the "no one comes to the father except through me."

The only way to establish the actual wording of the Bible is to view and translate the original version.

It's not easy, nor possible, to translate word for word. Often, you must resort to an approximate meaning that conveys the words of JESUS as accurately as possible.

any way you look at it, it still says that life is in Jesus, and without Jesus in your life you have no life at all, but if you have Jesus living in you then you have life through him. So it all depends on what Bible you read out of, and believe that it is true.

Is the Bible true?

Many people think the bible is full of errors and mistakes. The bible is 100 percent accurate. The bible can prove itself to be true. The bible is an accurate book about history, science, future events foretold, and how we are to live. Lets examine some of the evidence there is for the bible being the inspired word of God.

The bible is the only book that has predicated the future 100 percent. Only God can do this. No man could even get close enough to compare to predicting the future like the bible can. The bible predicted the name, birthplace, triumphal entry, betrayal, suffering, death, and burial of Jesus. Jesus was foretold in the bible hundreds of years before Him came.

"The following probabilities are taken from Peter Stoner in Science Speaks (Moody Press, 1963) to show that coincidence is ruled out by the science of probability. Stoner says that by using the modern science of probability in reference to eight prophecies, ‘we find that the chance that any man might have lived down to the present time and fulfilled all eight prophecies is 1 in 10 to the 17th power." That would be 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000. In order to help us comprehend this staggering probability, Stoner illustrates it by supposing that "we take 10to the 17th power silver dollars and lay them on the face of Texas. They will cover all of the state two feet deep. Now mark one of these silver dollars and stir the whole mass thoroughly, all over the state. Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far as he wishes, but he must pick up one silver dollar and say that this is the right one. What chance would he have of getting the right one? Just the same chance that the prophets would have had of writing these eight prophecies and having them all come true in any one man."
Stoner considers 48 prophecies and says, "we find the chance that any one man fulfilled all 48 prophecies to be 1 in 10 to the 157th power, or 1 in 10,00,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 000,000,000."

(This information was taken from the book Evidence that Demands a Verdict, by Josh McDowell.)

Just think this is only the percentage with a person being able to fill only 8 proficies. Jesus fulfilled over 300 proficies. This proves the accuracey of the bible trough proficey with out any doubt.

Here are some of the things scientific in the bible:

There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. (1 Corinthians 15:41) The bible is telling us all the stars are different and unique from one another.

For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls: (Leviticus 17:11) We were told by the bible our life is in the blood.

It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. (Isaiah 40:22) In the bible it states that the Earth is round not flat.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. (2 Peter 3:10) Here is an example of nuclear explosion.
Here are some of many of the evidences that the bible is accurate with science.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16) knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1 20-21) So the bible is the work of God. There we 40 authors of 66 books that were inspired by God to write the bible. These 66 books were written over a time span of about 1,500 years. All 66 books agree with each other. You can not get any 66 books over 1,500 years, that were from different countries to all agree with each other today. This proves the bible is really Gods word. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

It means the same with or without "The".
There is no other way to salvation. "No one come to the father but through the son."
Remember he called himself, "I am".
