It depends, will you comprimise gas economy for space or space for gas economy. If space matters, get the bigger one, if it dosen't get the smaller one. If gas matters, get the fuel sipper, if not, then don't. Then choose. They're both Toyotas but for now, I would lean towards the 08' Land Cruiser because it's slated for a redesign and the Sequoia is getting old.

I believe all three are build on the same frame. Obviously, the Lexus LX will have a nicer interior, but that's not to say that the Sequoia or Land Cruiser won't. It just depends on the trim. Here are some advantages to each: Sequoia- least expensive, very nice interior and plenty of space. Starts at $34,150 Land Cruiser- Very capable of going off-road, more features on the inside and in the engine. Starts around $63,000! LX- Absolutely beautiful interior. Every feature you can imagine. Starts around $73,000. There is a considerable difference in price between all three. Whether or not you're looking for luxury, I would recommend the Sequoia. If you do want luxury, you can get a higher trim with extra options and it will still be stunning, as are the LX and Land Cruiser, but without spending an absolute fortune! Each one will serve you well, get decent gas mileage for its size but not the best overall, and be pretty darn pricey. Happy shopping and hope you find what you need!

Wow, some people just don't read the question.
I will assume there is lots of luggage, sounds like a family trip. So you will need the extra room of the Sequoia. If there isn't a lot of luggage, the Land Cruiser is a nicer suv. Either way, you can't go wrong! Have a safe trip!

Choppy Ride in a Land Cruiser????? What are you smoking the Land Cruiser is one of the smoothest SUV's around. And wut about a Tahoe is more reliable??????? i have seen them with 6000 miles and rear main seal leaks. Not to mention it rides on a very Truck like chassis and offers a very choppy truck like ride. Compared to a Sequoia which is plagued by ZERO problems. AS for the Land Cruiser it rides on a very car like Suspension( five links with Coil Springs) and has pretty soft shocks. The Land Cruiser also has more sound deadening than the Sequoia so it will be quieter on the trip. The Sequoia makes slightly better gas mileage due to the use of VVT-i and less weight but the Sequoia is very nice as well but its more Truck Based than the Land Cruisers. They Both use the 2UZ-FE 4.7 Liter V8 but the Sequoia Adds VVT-i for better gas mileage and acceleration. Its your choice but if i had the cash Land Cruiser All the way

I'll say the Land Cruiser because its knowing for its legendary name and beside the new look better than the sequoia but since it a road trip if you are going with a big family and with luggage than the sequoia is better but both cars are great. have a save trip.

Why are they your only two options? There are plenty of other vehicles better than those. Best is a minivan, not an SUV, unless that 9-hour trip is on dirt roads or through snow. Minivans are quieter, safer, easier to drive and use less gas. If you really want to go in comfort, get an old Cadillac limousine. It won't use any more gas than the two SUVs you are thinking about.

I'd go for the Sequoia...it's almost half the price. And for a road trip, you don't need the advanced features a Landcruiser has. I think the Sequoia's a little bigger as well.

The 08 Land cruser is a new design for 08.
There are alot of upgrades, the Sequoia is a Little bit bigger for luggage.
Both are close in price depends on the options.
As both being Toyota's I would recommend eather one.

The other answers are not what you are asking
its easy if you want fuel economy you would add a Honda pilot to the choice
But you have SEVEN people and 9 hrs together. Get the MOST ROOM and DAMN GAS, It going to cost you a little anyway. I will Go for the space so no one gets cramped and has an attitude.
2008 SEQUOIA 'LIMITED EDITION'.

Probably the Sequoia, if you are able to get an '08 highlander, do yourself a favour and get that.
