"He that is without sin may cast the first stone."

Although we do not stone anoyone literally with stones anymore(some do sadly), your words act the same. Who are you to judge a home wrecker, homosexual, liar, theif, murderer, someone not obeying parents, adulterer, rapist, pagan, etc.?

I'm sure that you have done one of those in your life time...

So think about what Jesus said when the men of His time wanted to stone that adulterer..."He who is without sin may cast the first stone"...that next time you start spewing on about promiscuity, homosexuality, abortion...

Jesus was a man far beyond His years and His morals and actions STILL permeate through the world today: love thy neighbor, bless thy enemy, turn the other cheek...but why can't we follow His words?

Shape up brethren...for it's a fine line between being moral and being a sinner...

yeah...I've heard of repentance...I do it every night.

But how many Christians repent when they yell at people for their lifestyles? I know I do when it happens...

Just in case you didn't see the questions(cause I haven't had anyone really answer them yet)

They were "who are you to judge others" and "why can't we follow His(Jesus/God's) words"?

2007-10-04 15:26:34 · update #2

777....yes, and that's fine...

But when people get on here and just keep preaching and preaching against sin, when they do not know what is going on in someone's life, has no right to do so...

And of course that doesn't happen JUST on Y!A, but in real life everywhere...

2007-10-04 15:28:56 · update #3

Mike, yes we ARE just human...but Jesus lived the perfect life which we should strive to do..

and I think keeping our mouth shut around people is an easy thing to do...

2007-10-04 15:30:02 · update #4

So to the people who mentioned Jesus telling her to sin no more...

Did He EVER say things like "well you're going to Hell because you were an adulterer" or "Gays can't get into heaven?"

No...He never judged someone's life, but told them to change...and OBVIOUSLY He did this in a very subtle way besides "REPENT OR BURN IN HELL"...which, someone left a note on my car saying that the other day...I was pretty mad.

And also, if you would read, I'm not saying sinning and morals are the same thing. Like the saying goes "it's a fine line between genius and insanity"...maybe you should get out more and talk to people...then you could hear some common sayings...

2007-10-04 15:33:43 · update #5

Allan, thank you....I never really thought about it like that. Of course writing is always interpreted different...and when it is read outloud, it is always phrased differently.

I guess the only way to know what someone was saying is how they were literally saying it...

Thank you for calling me a moron sir, I actually looked this up because I wasn't sure if it was the right word I wanted to use...so here is the definition to enlighten you...

Permeate, as defined by www.dictionary.com

"1. to pass into or through every part of: Bright sunshine permeated the room.
2. to penetrate through the pores, interstices, etc., of.
3. to be diffused through; pervade; saturate: Cynicism permeated his report. "

So...who is the moron now?

2007-10-04 15:37:20 · update #7

chad, I COMPLETELY AGREE!!!

But like Jesus said on the cross "Father, forgive them for they do not know"

As Christians, we should KNOW the truth, the path, the light of the world that will lead us out of darkness...we should know the difference in how to live life. We have been given and accepted the perfect example...and "well everyone else is doing it!" is not an excuse...

2007-10-04 15:39:33 · update #8

About the temple thing...

There is a difference between sinning, and desacration of God's house...

We are to tell people when they sin(like I said) and they are to repent...but if you would have read, I also said there is a difference between telling someone they're wrong...and getting on here and yelling at people for sinning and then saying they'll not be allowed into Heaven.

As far as my high horse. There is also a difference between being on a high horse, and doing what it nesscessary. Think about what could've been done if someone would've spoken up against the crusades, inquisition, or the witch hunts...someone high in the church(obviously)...but guess what...THEY DIDN'T!!! They allowed the killing of innocent people without saying "Hey, Jesus said to do this..." or "Jesus told us NOT**** to do this..."

There is a difference, as I've said many times in this messege, between enlightening someone, and speaking down to someone.

Being moral or possessing "morality" is NOT the same thing as having no sin.

Jesus made this statement to the Pharisees who were going to stone to death a woman who was caught in the act of adultery.

Here are some things to think about--
Where was the man she was caught with and was this part of why Jesus objected to HER being stoned?

What did Jesus write in the dirt as he spoke to them?
IS it possible he was writing out THEIR sins that could have caused them to be stoned?

Did you ever notice the very last thing Jesus said to the woman?

John 8:11, "She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and SIN NO MORE."

Do you think Jesus in anyway approved of this woman's sin simply because he stepped into spare her life?

Question One:" Who are you to judge a home wrecker, homosexual, liar, theif, murderer, someone not obeying parents, adulterer, rapist, pagan, etc.?"

In the United States of America we have a law-based society. When someone violates someone elses rights their rights END. This is what "justice for all" means. I have a right to report to the police ANYONE who is violating the law. That is the right of each and every citizen of this country. This does not turn me into a judge, a jury or a police officer. It simply makes me a WITNESS.

In the Bible believers are to WITNESS to others. We witness of what we believe and know from the scriptures. By telling someone that their activities are in violation of Biblical law is simply being a WITNESS!!

Second question: love thy neighbor, bless thy enemy, turn the other cheek...but why can't we follow His words?

I do follow Jesus' words--but that does not mean I am ever, ever going to condone those who are destructive and evil in this society or any other. I can bless someone by praying for their salvation, by witnessing to them about the truth from the Word of God. I do not hold to account wrongs perpetrated against me--I give that person's judgement and justice fully over to God--that is what forgiveness is.

We are not called to judge. That will be done by God, who is the only One who knows the heart of each individual. When the woman who was caught in the act of adultery was brought before Jesus, He commuted her death sentance and told her simply to go her way and sin no more (repent). He also challenged those who stood in judgement against her by telling those who had no sin to go ahead and cast the first stone. They didn't because a little self-reflection revealed that they too were sinful.

God does not consider one sin to be greater than another, as we humans often do. He condemns such things as lying in the same verses with fornication and sorcery. To God, a sin is a sin is a sin and all deserve judgement. Because He understood that we could never be good enough to live up to His perfect standard, Jesus died in our place. Now, when God looks at us, He no longer sees us in our sins, but as covered by the precious blood of Christ.

Jesus said that we should not attempt to extract the speck in the eye of another, when we have a plank in our own. While He dined with those who were considered to be the worst sinners of His day, what He condemned were the self-righteous Pharisses who looked down their noses as other people, thinking they were better than everyone else.

On this basis, I try not to be judgemental of others and leave all judgement up to the only One who is perfect in judgement.

I love that verse and the story surrounding it teaches a valuable lesson. Still, I think most people on here are just stating their beliefs about those topics you mentioned - not "casting stones" at a particular person.

I understand your frustration...believe me I do. People can be really mean with their answers sometimes. But if we start censoring some people and their opinions on here, where does it end? That is a slippery slope and I don't think we should go there.

If you have an issue with someones answer, you could address them directly and tell them why you don't like it. Maybe they can shed more light on what they meant. Blessings!

Jesus had his biggest issues with the Scribes and Pharisees-the persons who were supposed to be the best of the best in the established Jewish faith. They were the ones who were always trying to set him up with tests (as with the stoning of the woman) to discredit him. They whispered about how he associated and broke bread with "sinners".
I agree with you and cringe when a Christian declares "You are going to burn in hell" to someones challenging question. It is not our place to say where anyone will be going at the end of their life. If we are questioned we are to give a reason for our faith-no more then that. And if we are to condemn a BEHAVIOR we must be careful to do so out of love and humility not self righteousness.

You still have a right to state your opinion. Unfortunately when communicating on a forum such as this words often are misunderstood and people take offense to things that were not meant to be offensive. It's hard to tell how sincere, open, and honest someone is being when you only have words to look at and no voice to hear. You are right though, people need to ease up and not get so pushy and not take things that are written here to heart so much. GOD BLESS!!!

I have learned that in my walk with the Lord that adversity has cut me down to size and I have learned the hard way neer to judge a person unfarily until I have walked at least a mile or at least 2 in thier shoes. None of us are all that. We are sinners in need of a saviour there is no sin that is committed that Jesus can forgive the bible says in Romans to be willing to associate with people in low position. All of us need to be shaped by God to become better and more compassionate.

It's human nature to condemn those who disagree with us. People who rip Christians and call us idiots, ask us if we want some kool-aid, compare us with 3 year olds, etc. are no better than those Christians who spew hellfire and brimstone at everyone who doesn't agree with them. Both groups are equally wrong.

God does command us to minister to others and share the word of God. That doesn't mean we have to shout at people though.

that's an exciting query. i think that you just cannot forgive with out forgetting, however you'll fail to remember and forgive. a few persons might say that you just must no longer fail to remember in order that you be trained out of your mistake or from the improper that any one has performed to you. But in the event you cannot fail to remember then you definitely would maintain that sorrow or anger within your self. So possibly you must be trained the lesson, forgive the individual, and fail to remember the improper.

How about coming down off your high horse of permissiveness and stop judging the actions of so many by calling upon poor interpretations of scripture? Sins are committed by action as well as inaction. It would have been a lot easier for Jesus to allow the money changers in the temple to continue their activity and love them into submission, right? Wrong. He addressed the issues concerning his home. He dealt with them according to their ability to corrupt, and all the while his ability to love did not decrease one iota. He did not exempt those he drove out from being covered by his blood.
Christians are called out of the ways of the world and are made sparate. The church has nothing to do with the actions and compromising ideas and practices of unrighteousness. Such things should never be tolerated out of some misguided understanding of what it means to love.
God is love, but so many fail to realize that love is not God.

Casting a stone as part of an action intended to end life is not the same as insistance upon righteousness that brings life.

Edit:
Yes it is true many did not speak up against the crusades. Many did. We must have faith that the course of history is in line with God's will for mankind or we lose ourselves to the world. Putting off the trappings of the physical world is a process that takes time as we learn and grow in Christ and we must learn to trust our leaders to be properly led by God. Standing for good is not speaking judgement for all goodness has already been revealed in Christ. When we stand steadfastly against evil ways we are doing as we have been instructed by the One who will ultimately be doing the judgement. Failure to do so results in allowing many stumbling blocks to lay in the path of the children.
You should edit your profile, for in it you state you are not a Mormon. Yet, in your posts you endeniably take the Mormon stand. It may also be to your benefit to review the Biblical requirements to be recognized as an elder, the title many take erroneously in their youth.

It also says do not associate with such. We are to set ourselves aside and follow what is of God. We are not casting actual stones as the hypocrites were about to when Jesus said those words. We are not to let one among us say they are of God and yet openly sin against God's word. We are to cast them from among us so that they may see that their ways are perverse and repent and then we are to take them back in.

Christians are not to be door mats either. We are to take a stand and let the world know what is Godly and not Godly.

Jesus will do the judging when the time comes.
Jesus was able to walk among the sinners. Man is not perfect and can become tainted by perversion if we hang out with the unGodly. We are to set ourselves aside as from such wickedness. Condonement of such behavior is a compromise to what God wants us to stand for. It sends mixed messages to let it be as you suggest. It is a battle of principles and principalities.

It is all to be done out of LOVE. We were once blind with planks in our eyes but as God removes them we are then permitted to fix our brother's.
