I'm a Christian, trying to understand God better.

"We make God too small when we declare that only people like us can know God."

- Tom Ehrich

"My belief is that God is trying to make his love known through every source possible-- this includes religions other than Christian."

I am a Christian and have been for several years. I believe that the only thing that dooms one to Hell is the sin of unbelief. So many time Christians get caught up in man made rules that do not matter. I can remember growing up being taught that our church was the only way. As I matured and started seeking things out on my own, I believe much differently. Also, it is not a
Christians place to decide who is going to Heaven and who is not, that is a personal choice between that person and God. Remember, Jesus is the Way to Heaven and not what church or denomination you go to. God Bless.

Do you have your own views
on God?
Idolitry of the imagination is the oldest sin
in the Book, "these men have set up their
idols in their heart..." Ezek. 14:3. God says
that no idolitors "...shall inherit the
kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

The REAL Jesus
There is "another Jesus" that is not the REAL Jesus of
the Bible (2 Cor. 11:4). Salvation can only take place
only through faith in the REAL Jesus. Faith in
"another Jesus" cannot save anyone. So how can you
tell if you have the REAL Jesus?
The Jesus of the Bible...
-- is prayed to - Acts 7:55-60; Psalm 116:4
and Zech. 13:9 with 1 Cor. 1:1-2
-- is worshiped - Matt. 2:2,11; 14:33; 28:9;
John 9:35-38; Heb. 1:6
-- is called God - John 20:28; Heb. 1:8; Isa.
9:6
-- is the ONLY way to God - John 14:6; Acts
4:12
-- did not come to bring peace, but a
sword - Matt. 10:34
-- tells us to fear God - Matt. 10:28
-- tells us that the world will hate us - John
15:18-19, 17:14
-- tells us Christians can expect to suffer -
Matt. 5:45; John 16:33; Heb. 11:35-38; 1 Pet.
4:12; 1 John 3:13
-- commands us share the gospel - Matt.
28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8

True Christians do. Otherwise there'd be no need for the commandment to go out and preach the gospel to everyone. God is exclusive. That's why He chose [excluded] the Jews from all the nations, chose [excluded] the Levites from all the Jews, chose [excluded] the Aaronites from all the Levites. The parables concerning the wedding feast are exclusive, the Revelation is full of exclusions. The entire Holy Bible is about being exclusive [sinless]. God is love but more than that He is holy and any who blaspheme the Holy Spirit is unforgiven [excluded, doomed].

We don't claim only people like us can know God.

We proclaim the gospel which teaches what Christ said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, and no man comes to the Father except by Me." Jesus is the only way to eternal life.
What we say is other religions are rejecting the Lord Jesus the Christ who went to the Cross for the sins of the world. No other religion or book teaches Christ and the Cross.

Romans 6:23 "For the wages ofsin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord."

I can't believe I need to quote John 3:16 to a Christian. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that who so ever believes on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life."

My Christian brother, if you don't have the Son, you don't have the Father God. Other religions other than Christianity do not recognize Christ Jesus. There is no Salvation without Jesus the Christ our Lord and Savior. Without Jesus we are dead in our sins.

Everything you guys have said in that website sounds good, but it is not biblical. I take the Bible literally and even the metaphors are literally explained by different prophets in different books. I hold to the literal interpretation of Creation being done in 6 literal days. Millions and billions of years makes me sick to my stomach.

John 10:35 "........the scripture cannot be broken."

John 11:25,26 "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?"

From Genesis to Revelation, the Scripture is all about Jesus the Christ

1 John 4:1
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world."

1 John 4:14,15
"and we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he in God."

I have got to side with Jesus on this so I will quote him:

3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him. 3:18 The one who believes in him is not condemned. The one who does not believe has been condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. 3:19 Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil. 3:20 For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed. 3:21 But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.(NET Jn 3.17-21)

So Jesus said that everyone is doomed prior to faith in him and acceptance of the work he did on the Cross.

Well, Christians believe in salvation through the Christ, so it is hard to believe that and believe that God spoke to Buddhists through Buddha, and to Muslims through Muhammed, and to Hindus through....a flower(???). Faith and belief requires adherence to some kind of perceived truth. But, that doesn't necessarily mean anyone who doesn't follow your thinking is doomed. God "dooms" people, not man and God will assuredly follow his own plan.

some die-hard christians believe that their religion is the best and only one that can get you to heaven. You have to look past that, find the good in all people and all religions. Find your path, as long as God comes first, youre good.

I do not like to go around supposing who is going to be in heaven and who isn't. That strikes me as very presumptuous and smacks of hubris. But I would say that if another religion teaches love of God and love of neighbor, then I would say its adherents have as much chance as Christians of entering the kingdom of heaven.

Christianity is not a religion. It is a life saving personal relationship with Living God, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

I believe that Jesus is the way.
