What do the proponents of global warming consider normal climate change?

The climate has changed for billions of years.
It's been much hotter and much colder.
The temperature has gone up and down slower and faster.
There has been much more and much less CO2 in the atmosphere.
The CO2 has increased and decreased at slower and faster rates as well before humans exsisted.
Also other planets in the solar system are changing at the same rate as earth.

Why is it any different now?

How can this be attributed to humans when this has all happend even before Humans were here?

It seems that the so called environ"MENTAL" crowd should be behind global warming, if it's going to be as bad as they say. All of the catastrophy that they claim will happen
will only result in a reduction of population, a key component in there argument to stop global warming.

And if the debate is over, do the proponents of global warming/Climate change, understand they have lost?

So the whats normal change?
The Younger Dryas even changed by 10 to 18 degrees in approximately 10 years and then changed back.
But mankind couldn't have had any effect at the time.

And patrick is right, scientists know nothing about Climate change so how can it be said the debate is over?

Here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.
The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.
This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.
Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is
becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).
As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).
When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.
As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':
Humans did not cause it.
Humans cannot stop it.

Don't worry about it. If you wait 10 minutes give or take a decade, these exact same people will be warning us about global cooling like they did 30 years ago. One question you forgot to ask is what is the normal temperature of the earth? Until someone can prove what that is, how do we know the earth is warming? Maybe we are just going back to the normal temperature.

Sure the climate has changed naturally before.

But, we were in a relatively stable phase until we started messing it up.

When it's been much warmer, coastlines and plant life were very different. Today that would be a catastrophe, with massive coastal development and intensive agriculture. We're not nomads, who can easily up and move.

So, natural climate change is seen on the first 2000 years of this graph. The man made climate change is seen in the last 50 years. It's rather obvious, and the trend has continued since the graph ended in 2004. Ten peer reviewed studies:

All the other planets in the solar system are not warming, just a few, for different reasons. On Mars, it's giant dust storms unique to Mars.

Why don't you go ask them? Why come here and spam the group with this kind of stuff? The scientists at NOAA, NASA, and all the others have web sites where they discuss all of the issues you mention in excrutiating detail. Why would you come here and make a post like this, rather than go there and do some reading?

The debate is over, those who deny that we are causing global warming have lost but they don't seem to understand (there are still people (like Patrick here) who do not understand why the debate is effectively over and who therefore assume that since they lack the capability of understanding that everyone else does).

Natural climate changes are slower than what we are currently going through, that is the difference and it is a very big difference (because it means that whereas in previous changes life was able to adapt we may not have time for life to adapt to the change).

Yes Climate Change has been happening forever.
This time we have nearly 7 billion people on the planet, every single one of us relying on consistant weather to grow crops. Yes, the only thing that will happen is the reduction of population. Do you actually know what that means though? It means PEOPLE WILL DIE. That could be you or me pal. But most likely the billions of poor people in Africa and Asia.
Climate Change will probably happen anyway, but it would be insane to make it worse by pumping carbon dioxide into the air. Which is what we are all doing.
