In order to record, you need a recorder, not just a player. The following info is from the most recent issue of Consumer Reports, the independent testing organization. For a DVD-only recorder, expect to pay between $170 and $240. The best models tested were (from the top) Samsung AR650, Panasonic DMR-EZ17, Sony RDR-GX355, Samsung R157, and Panasonic DMR-EZ27. For a DVD-VCR combo unit, expect to pay $185-$310. The best models tested were Panasonic DMR-EZ47V, Panasonic DMR-EZ37V, Samsung VR357, and Sony RDR-VX555. You can probably see a brand-name trend here.
The CU ratings for the best stores to buy electonics goods were (for all parameters) Crutchfield.com, Amazon.com, Local Independent Stores, and Tweeter. For price and price alone, Costco, both online and actual store (they also have the longest return period of 90 days).

A cool hybrid device is Panasonics VHS (VCR) DVD recorders that allow you to not only record TV shows onto DVD, but also to transfer all of your VHS tapes to DVD (before they all self-destruct - and they DO!) Tape has a limited shelf life - and if there are any precious memories you would hate to lose that only exist on VHS cassettes, avoid the heartbreak of discovering that they're totally unplayable one day - and digitally archive your memories onto DVD today!!!

connect you VCR to the recorder with a scart lead and press play on the VCR and checklist on the recorder! yet for super consequences - feed your VHS in to a pc and make video clips with Roxio elementary Media writer 9 and slideshows of the family members pictures too and placed them on DVD. you are able to play returned on the pc or on a miles cheap DVD participant. look at Aria and Maplin for DVD recorders and Aria for laptops.
