US Air force=8 {needs to get tougher as a whole} good at doing what they were set up for.\

Navy = 7 too many sailors cant hack being deployed longer than 6 months. In WW2 the USS Hornet never put into port fot 18 months.

Army= 8.5 too much politics in budget battles, but has a good track record for on the ground operations. Better discipline and dedication than first 2 branches.

Marines= 10 Best service that will kick the enemies balls in, total commitment to each other, superb at doing anything with the least supplies or materials, and dedicated to the warrior code. Best dress uniform too !

9 - They lose a point in my books for having a poor recruiting ethos. They'll try to entice potential recruits with promises of university tuition, financial benefits and not really mind if that's their sole reason for enlisting.

In other countries with all-professional military forces, people aren't enlisted unless they make it clear they're life experienced and seriously want the military lifestyle. Meanwhile, some US servicemen are stuck, obligated to finish a contract of four active duty years even if they've had a change of heart.

Otherwise, everything else good. The US military comes closest to reaching a 10 than any other military force I can think of, except Tonga.

Now with all things where people are concerned things can change. You can't give 1 million people a good or evil test.
Now where we hurt is in moral. The crap that forces have to hear when they can home from their tours of duty is hurtful.
When they hear that they are rapists or murders puts doubt in their minds and thats just plain reckless.

7 or 8. Highly effective, mobile, lots of force projection and advance weaponry though. Can't sustain casualties, sustained war for more than 10 years, technology is expensive to replace, too expensive, doesnt understand urban or guerrilla warfare- yet

Yanks are pretty good.
You can always judge a military by how hard their NCO's are.
They're battle tested and tough.
I would give them a 9.5, but they are exhausted and in desperate need of some recuperation time, so I'll give them a 9.

Basically if the enemy force is nice enough to paint there military verhicles military coors and have there soldiers wear uniforms we will win hands down. But otherwise we get held up with our own red tape and rules of engagement.

8.7 - (Fortunately, most everyone else is a 4.) We have a tendency to trade people for technology. The Russians are the exact opposite. They go for cheaper technology then mass produce it & sell it to like hot cakes arround the world. Russian equipment isn't really that bad either. Just different.

Additionally, our morals & depencancy on technology are limiting our ability to fight in real combat. Iraq for example, we won't just bust down doors. We wait for something to happen then react.

So, based on a REAL war, 8.7. We will lose a long duration war, or end up bankrupt.
