In the last 8 days, I've done what I have always wanted to do. Go on a diet and get a healthier lifestyle. I quite smoking week and lost 3 IBS so far or more. I am feel more positive and happier being able to do this. However, I still kind of feel low at times and guilty. I grown up a bit poor and made fun of all the time. My dad use to drink all the time (he stopped and is much better) when I was a kid and use to bring me in the room and listen to the Doors crying about my mom (My mom cheated on him and whatever else happened) I always use to listen to him and I think this emotionally hurt me growing up to hear this. Started weed when I was 16. Loved it and realized I was burning out and felt no pleasure to anything else but being dependant and high. Changed my personality and made me feel like I wasent being me. I stopped for 8 days and a diet included makes me happier. However still feel a bit gloomy at times. How can I reinforce myself to stay positive and happy forever!

Staying positive and happy forever is a tall order. If I had that
information I'd gladly share it with you and everyone else.
Just take it one day at a time, focus on the positive, and climb
back on that wagon every time you fall off. Don't be too hard
on yourself when you do,it's a long and bumpy road.

Staying "positive and happy forever" is not at all realistic. It is normal to have mild ups and downs, that is called life. The key is being centered enough to let things roll off of you or to stay calm and collected.

Yes, your past has an affect on you. One suggestion, go to some talk therapy with a counselor, that will help work through the past and keep you on a better level. Also, make sure you are eating properly to keep blood sugar levels normal, snack in between meals (apples with a handful of almonds is good) keeps sugar level normal. Drink water, stay away from sugar (especially sodas), alcohol is a depressant, and get plenty of rest too.

Accepting that life is NOT perfect, that we don't have control over much and that having a strong center (leaning on God) will ensure a better future. Take care, learn from even the down times, they are valuable too.
