I simply LOVE millitary and the whole concept of war strategy. I read many books by many people on many different types of warfare. I love military history, but its hard to find a college that offers a good millitary history major. I know west point is great but I don't want to fight and be a soldier, just learn and understand concepts right now. What can I do

Well if you don't want to be IN the military, it's going to be a challenge to a military general.
U of V, UNL have undergrad and graduate degrees in Mil History. Failing that, you can always major in Modern (Medieval/Ancient) History, and concentrate on military history of that era. You may wish to join the Society of Military History, which will give you more insight into MilHis programs.

I think your best bet is going to college and becoming a military historian. Many universities in the midwest offer great military history/ specific history degrees. Or, join up and avoid combat situations, which is possible.

Sorry, most every service (maybe not Navy) requires their Generals to have some sort of combat experience.

***** I say maybe not Navy, because really when was the last major naval battle. The Navy is great for heavy lift capability & cruise missiles, but aside from that they might as well be a floating AF.

become a military historian, cause to be a general you would have to be in the military and go through the Ranks.
