I am part of organizing a school fundraising event where we need to distribute prizes to a large group of people (eg. 200). What would be good prizes, cheap, to hand out? Thanks so much.

First try not to spend money. Go to local business's in your area and ask for donations, even small gift certificates. I know the company I work for does them all the time, especially when school related. Go at the beginning of the month, most have certain amounts they do monthly...so be one of the first.

Does anyone among your group have gifts or items that are brand new and not used...donate them as prizes.

Not knowing age group of recipient's or what the fund raising is for, if possible try selling your talents to others or giving them as prizes, lawn mowing, tutoring for an hour, babysitting, picking up items for older person...put your heads together, you will find something...I would pay to have someone bake me a batch of choc chips cookies knowing it is going to a good cause...use your noodle...you will do well.

Definitely go to local businesses. I raised about $1000 worth of raffle prizes in one day just knocking on business doors in my local neighborhood. I probably walked 10 miles, but we raised a lot of money with those prizes.
