I am in the USAF and apparently will be taking an AMC flight from the States to Germany - what is an AMC flight exactly? Any problems with taking pets on the plane? Thanks

The first person answering got it right about it being Air Mobility Command. It used to be known as Military Airlift Command and started out with the original name of Military Air Transportation Service. It includes passenger-carrying military aircraft like the C-17 and C-5A. That is supplemented by commercial aircraft under contract to AMC.
As for pets, unless things have changed recently, pets ride as cargo. You need to check with your military personnel flight or the AMC headquarters at Scott Air Base in Illinois.
Hope this helps.

AMC is Air mobility command, the air force "airline" which could be military aircraft or commercial aircraft chartered for military use.

Pets, you'll have to check with your travel provider on that one.
