Guyana is a tropical country located on the Continent of South America. it's capital is called Georgetown. Guyana gained it's independence from British rule on May 26th 1966, when the Union Jack came down and it's now National Flag the Golden arrow Head was hoisted.Guyana is a multi-ethnic country that is made up of six peoples, Africans, East Indians, Portuguese, Amerindians,Chinese and Europeans.It's population at the last census is 763,893. it has an area of 83,000 sq miles and 214,969 km sq. it is the only English speaking country in South America.It is a country below sea level. It's currency is called dollars.Guyana housed the tallest wooden building in the world, the St Georges Cathedral, also the monument of the abolition of slavery the 1763 Monument that speaks of resilience. in Guyana are also found a few breath taking water falls,mainly the Kaieteur Falls that is a tourist attraction. also the amazing animals in the rain forest, the Jaguars, monkeys, anaconda snakes and different species of birds, her neighboring countries are Brazil, Suriname and Venezuela. My country is called the bread basket of the Caribbean because it is noted for it lots of fresh fruits and vegetables that are easily accessible. The streets are decorated with vendors who ply their trade making it a busy thoroughfare and very safe place to be. As you walk along the many Malls and became thirsty you can surely cool down by stopping by our coconut vendors who will be happy to serve you that drink of coconut water however you like it, either cool or cold.I invite tourist to come and be entertained.
