maximum exposure never heard of it/ automatic device? forget automatic if you are for real

for night shots use the camera on manual everything, focus, exposure, iso

use a tripod, set the settings to manual focus @ infinity, set iso to 100, set the apeture to f8-f16 and the shutter speed to 4- 30 seconds.....use a combination of apeture/shutter speeds and see whats best

linked is an example for you of iso100, F11 @30 seconds,

If you're looking for maximum exposure, just switch your camera to bulb mode and hold the button on your shutter-release cable for a few hours.

Even on the darkest night, this should "automatically" give you "maximum exposure!" ;) If you want CORRECT exposure, you might want to pick up a book on the subject.

Cheers!

Nice answer, Antoni.

If you're serious about low light and night photography, go to fotosharp.com and order their "Day & Night Exposure Guide".
Costs about $20.00 or so.
