The orange color is connected to the sex chromosomes, just like the calicos and tortoiseshells. Statistically 75% of orange cats will be male and 25% female. So the chances of an orange cat being male is higher than being female.
We have a female orange cat in my neighborhood and once at the shelter we had four orange siblings who were all female.

That strikes me more as a wives tale than a fact. I've had two orange cats, both were female. All of those cat's littermates were female. There could be a slight majority of orange cats being male, like no more than 3 males per every one female or something like that; but there are still plenty of orange girls out there.
I hope that helps!

Yes, it's more rare to have a female orange cat. The same is true for Calico cats.

Yes it is true. Every orange cat I've met has been male. Did you know that Calico cats can only be female?

Most orange TABBY cats are male, it's a sex linked gene (like most torti and calico cats are female). But what's called a 'self' color - which is solid with no markings, can be both male or female.

As far as I have seen with my friend's cats, yes. But that does not necassarily mean that most orange cats are male, my friends might just favor male cats.
