I hav a hp and only 1g of ram.

I have a hp computer and the model is a310n desktop. Its version of xp is 2002 and its a celeron(R) it has 2.7
Ghz.

Generally yes and your upgrade path is towards a Pentium that is supported by your motherboard. Your limiting factors would be motherboard support level and availability of the Pentium processor especially if it is on a phased-out socket platform.

You need to provide more information.

It's because the Celeron processor have been used by Intel every since 1996.

It started out with the Celeron (Which runs on Slot 1.)

Then socket 370 (Usually 500 Mhz above to 1.5)

Then Socket 478.

Then lastly the "pinless" LGA 775.

It could help if you could specifically say your HP computers model name.

but that depends on the motherboard.
what cpu(s) the mobo supports?
you have to ask hp for the answer.
or look up on internet.
