'I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.' (John 15:5 NIV)

That must be the key to our boredom with Christianity: we have not been keeping in very close touch with our Man in glory. We have been doing in our churches all those churchly things that we do. We have done them with our own understanding and in our own energy. But without a bright and conscious confirmation of God's presence, a church service can be very deadly and dull.

A church is a meeting place for worship, nothing more, nothing less. Churches are held as sacred because of their never-ending presence of God, yet some people believe that some churches hold little to no spirit to them. Why is this? The fact is, it is not the building which brings the divine, but the people who are in it. If not for the people the place would hold no sanctity.

Is it religion that you question? Namely Christianity? Or are you questioning all who consider themselves religious leaders? Or Perhaps all who attend church?

I am unable to answer your statement fully because there is no true answer to it, but I would like to comment on your last sentence. "But without a bright and conscious confirmation of God's presence, a church service can be very deadly and dull."

A popular psychologist/theologist named Ken Wilber who identifies the 9th and final level of consciousness as Nondual. It is in this stage that oneself comes to a direct awareness that there is nothing that is not Spirit. Since there is no place where Spirit (or God) is not, then searching for the Divine is a waste of effort. As the self realizes that Spirit (God) is all that is, it becomes content to rest quietly in this awareness. As Meister Eckhart, the thirteenth-century Christian mystic put it, "I pray God to rid me of God," a statement which continues to perplex conventional theologians and no doubt contributed to his teachings being condemed by the Catholic Church.

Of course you can, your family is ignorant and very insensitive to your problem, and causing you further anxiety. God is everywhere you are, that's basic. There are many legitimate T.V. church services on the weekend, tune in to see if you like any of them, or you might find a website or group on the Internet, that through Instant Messaging or e-mail will commune with you. And while I'm on the subject why isn't your church reaching out to you? Does the Pastor know of your condition? He or someone in his stead should be administering to you, that's also basic to Christianity!

Some, have compromised, and then boredom sets in and they become a social club. Ours is alive and on fire. You know?. The wheat from the chaff. Pick where you worship very carefully. If the central focus is not on the Cross and giving the Glory to the Lord, and they are throwing Psychological answers in. Get out.

Deadly ...You're so right.
A church without the presence of God Is one that teaches traditions of men and holds fast to the man made rituals and falls Into the trap that Is mentioned In the Bible. Therefore making the word of God null & void. They end up teaching doctrines of demons and gives heed to seducing spirits.Guard your heart and take heed to who you allow to speak Into your soul taking care not to be deceived by these false teacher's. If God can't get In,why would you want to be there ?

You got it, dead, dull, lifeless. all of it. Life wont be there and it will be full of lies and evil spirits and untruths. Only bickering with the ppl.
for too long ppl have only done religion in church, and not been in the full presence of God. ONce you are truly born again and are in Gods spirit all of the time, you wil have a church full of life, joy, truths, wisdom , Gods knowledge, unity amongst the believers in truth and in love, sheer joy in worship and praise and in the sermons too as its of God, not about man made religion. Oh yes, bring it on, we are way long overdue to get out of man made teaching and religion and into the fullness of God from His HOly Bible and the fullness of His Holy Spirit. LEts bring it on you guys.
As we used to say, lets do church, but lets dont play church.
Lets give it all to God and it will never be dull. It will be sheer celebration I count it all as joy.. and yes I have found a church like that. God blesses His ppl when they truly seek Him.

Church is a mirror of your soul. Church is constant. Church is a house of spirit and of prayer. It is not an entertainment for you to enjoy or a movie to shock you.

Church where the gospel of life brings to life. It is an spiritual invitation. If I feel coldness to my church it is because I see a light on my church and I need to draw closer to it. Jesus is waiting for me.

The presence of God is where you feel coldness to his presence. We should not turn back to him but rather long for warmth through prayer.

God will never fail you.

Church without God is simply very empty and cold. Stay away from churches like that! The more God is present the nicer the people are.

You are right and that is why you will not find God in any church today, he is in the hearts of those that believe in him, churches do not represent God today they are to busy with greed for wealth and power.
