bugs do?

Do bugs breath out carbon dioxide or do they just live off oxygen? Or do they breath at all?

Insects have a type of primitive lung system, although it's in a different location than in mammals. They breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide.

Google is your friend. Type in "insect respiration" and prepare to be educated.

Aw, heck, I'll save you the trouble:

They breathe in oxygen and produce energy in the form of ATP just the same way as we do. Only difference is that 'bugs' do not have lungs, they are small enough and have a large enough surface area to volume ratio that they can get all the oxygen they need by diffusion. Some bugs have adaptations such as spiracles that allow them to 'absorb' more oxygen more efficiently. Furthermore, plants too utilize oxygen in exactly the same way as animals and bugs!

Plants take in both oxygen and carbon dioxide, and give off both. Photosynthesis takes in carbon dioxide and releases oxygen. Respiration takes in sugars and oxygen and releases energy and carbon dioxide.

Animals (including people and bugs, both are kinds of animals) take in oxygen and give off carbon dioxide. Respiration takes in sugars and oxygen and releases energy and carbon dioxide.

everything that lives respires. Bugs are animals therefore they breath in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide.

Good question ... I have no idea, although I'd guess they breathe out CO2 as they're a form of animal life. I think the CO2 to O is something to do with photosynthesis.

Insects breath in oxygen and exhale CO2 just like other animals.

They "breath" through small holes in their exoskeleton.
