I was told that when I pick up my date(my girlfriend) for homecoming, I'm supposed to give flowers to her mother. Is this true?

Its not 'true'. Tell you what though...sure as hell can't hurt. 'Course nowadays Mom may look on that with alittle suspicion because lets face it....the members of your generation are worthless hoodlums who couldn't support themselves or function in society without the help of therapy, alcohol and Prozac.

However..you my good man have had the sense to ask a question about courting that dates back to...oh...long before me...and I could be your grandfather. So...get her flowers. WalMart has 'em and they aren't bad and they're inexpensive. Toss in a box of Russel Stover chocolates. Little something for the girlfriend would be wise as well.
For her Dad? A firm handshake and referring to him as "Mister" whatever his name is will warm things up alittle. Don't forget...they'll be eye-balling you close. Dress nice. Not a shirt and tie but nice trousers....a clean shirt and for Chrissakes...get a trim and shave. Unless you're impeccably groomed and have a beard and long hair.

You're conduct and respect towards the parents will make you alittle more welcome in the future. Of course there is always that wild card where you get your girlfriend preganat on your first date. That can be fatal so keep that rascal in your pants. Plenty of time for that nonsense later.

Sounds strange to me...you're dating your girlfriend, not her mother. Get some flowers for your girlfriend.

It sounds like a good idea regardless...Giving the mother a flower would certainly reflect your upbringing and impress those females around you.
