Yes, I believe that head strikes are essential. At the very least you have to train to defend against them. If you are fighting someone from the UK, Australia, or any other INTL Football loving country, they are going to use the head-butt early and often.

Absolutely. The Won Yuen Fa method teaches head butts as a method of self-defense. It is good when being choked from behind. Some may say that its "fighting dirty", but one must remember who started the fight. If you're goal is self-defense, and defending against an attacker in a real-world situation, then there is no such thing as fighting dirty -- its a matter of staying alive. The same holds true for eye gouges, elbow breaks, knee dislocations, collarbone snaps, or finger breaks used in self-defense. If you don't like it, don't attack me on the street.

Yes. Even the traditional kata has some techniques involving using the forehead to strike. I cant remember the actual names but it translates to something like demon horn! lol
Its not like a traditional Scottish kiss but more of a quick ram using the forehead when your attacker is in close to you.

I believe that this is something that could be implemented if you wanted to, however it makes little sense to me to make it a primary technique, I wouldn't use a headbutt unless most of my other options had been exhausted.

krav maga teaches head butts as well as many other dirty fighting tactics. otherwise go to an english pub. you'll learn how to give a good head butt there.
