I go to my doctor and trust her completely even though medical research follows the scientific method.
I trust that when I go on a plane it won't crash even though aeronautical science follows the scientific method.
I trust that almost every single technology I use will work correctly because all the research that allows for it to work follows the scientific method.

But when it comes to evolution, the big bang and the age of the earth I suddenly stop trusting science.

Why am I such a hypocrite?

It's like when I see flaws in the evidence for evolution like that one fake hominid fossil I completely reject the whole theory. But when medical science does the same thing like when a pharmaceutical company recalls a certain medication for health reasons, I still will trust my doctors and the medicine they adminsiter afterwards and I don't start doubting medical science.

Why do I make such a blatant double standard?

There are no scientific laws, there's only mathematical laws or theorems.

No one has a good explanation as to why I'm such a hypocrite. Bad science? Evolution science follows the same methods as medical science.
No evidence for evolution? What world are you living on? Cuz it's certainly not earth.

Can someone explain why I'm such a hypocrite?

because your beliefs are clouding your vision...ok, seriously? i think it's because, like any sceptic, you only believe what you see with your own eyes, or in the case of your religious beliefs, what has been ingrained into your mind since you were young. you can see the effects of medicine and you can see a plane fly and not crash, yet you can't see the evolution theory in practice because it takes billions and billions of years to evolve, or the big bang, etc. also, it conflicts with your religion, and since religion is basically absolute in some ways you can't reconcile the two in your head so you go with your religion. wow...i wrote alot.

It's good that you're asking that, that you realize something is wrong. But why do you believe that those other things contradict your faith? You might think that some of them contradict the literal stories of Creation in the Bible (though I'm not sure that they all do..), but then those contradict themselves/each other as well, so that's nothing new. I read something somewhere... What was it.. ? "The Big Bang, if there was a Big Bang", would have required an infinite amount of energy applied to an infinite amount of matter in an infinitely small space. God only knows how that could happen!"

lol...

Doctors trust that God will guide their medical judgment and reasoning. If you've taken the time to look around, most hospital are named after saints or after a faith, i.e., St. Francis, St. James, Mercy Medical Center, Holy Trinity et.al. Most doctors i know are theist, either Christians or Muslims. I haven't met a physician who's an atheist yet. With other medical colleagues, i have not yet met an atheist. All are theist. Some atheists I've met are usually bankers or brokers.
And doctors can make mistakes. Where do you think those laywers for malpractice thrive on? You trust your own doctor because you have learned to know that doctor as a person, as someone you know. Would you feel the same if you are seeing a new doctors? And nowadays, with cancer popping up like mushrooms, it's always better to get a second opinion.

Planes do crash even without a twisted hi-jacker who would willingly crash it. Machines thru either just bad luck or wear and tear can malfunction.

Believing in a faith doesn't mean we're dumb. We know whatever empirical reasoning most of the smart Atheists say. We are aware of their views. And we acknowledge that research is inevitable. Humans have a thirst for knowledge. We acknowledge that ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF GOD.

It is not a double standard to believe that "things are because" or things have been researched" or "things have been theorized" and at the same time putting the Trust only in the Lord. It works together because it is a gift given to us - the bundle called LIFE.

Edit:
You are a HYPOCRITE because you claim it to be "your Bible" yet you do not give it value. You claim to know what it upholds and teach yet you do not know since you haven't read it in its entirety.. You pretend to be a Christian yet you do not follow His ways. You claim to know God yet you mock His existence. You claim to have a faith yet you only acknowledge yourself. You view yourself above all others yet you have not yet gained wisdom to understand what life is about.

I'm going to guess you are Christian and therefore do believe in the Bible. You believe that it's your religon it's what you put your faith and "life" in. You don't exactly have a double standard. This things you mentioned are theories and have not been proven as scientfic law. Until those theories are proven or disproven what you believe is correct to you.
Blessed Be!

Because science that contradicts the Bible is bad science, based on a disbelief in God and His creative acts.

That doesn't make you much of a hypocrite. It's good for you to question your doctor on what side effects the medicine you're taking might have.

Extensive research shows certain medicines to be safe, but there's always a chance that a side effect may be discovered later. Thankfully we have an FDA who watches these things closely.

Good try. A little too explicit and in-your-face. Next time, be a bit more subtle in your criticism.

As far as your general point, it's a good one.
