My family is in town and they brought there yorkie male dog, My dog just so happened to be in heat, also a yorkie, my wife picked them up from the air port before i got home, she didn't have a clue that there dog was a male or that it was neutered. I came home and they were together, i knew it was a boy, so i immediately checked to see if his penis was swollen, witch it was, very swollen but only at the top, like it looked like a marble was in it.
I'm pretty sure i just wanted to check though, The male dogs penis only swells if they tie together and its inserted into the females vagina, correct?
My dog (coco) is 2 years old, there dog is 2 1/2 (simba) My wife and i wanted her to have a liter of puppies, but not yet, but i will certainly let her have them, i would do something so cruel as to spay her when shes pregnant.
But if you can answer my question up there (if the male dogs penis only swells when they tie together) that would be alot of help, it would help me alot

Also, The penis is hanging out with a swollen marble looking thing, How do i know if they did tie.

A male dog's penis can swell if the two dog's did not tie. It can be called an outside tie. This sometimes happens when the male is very excited but a n actual tie never takes place. It is like a large bulb that lies further back on the penis, not the tip. When this swells, usually the male will stand there like a total fool with his penis hanging out until the swelling goes down. It is the same part that swells inside the female when an actual tie takes place. That's what holds them together and therefore called a tie. Yes she could still get pregnant, but the chances are not as high as if there were a tie. Hope this helps. Also, I would mark your calendar and watch her closely for signs of pregnancy so you can care for her properly and help with the delivery in the case that she indeed did become pregnant.

Wow do you have it all wrong. The males penis will well up but only if it is inside the female. This is how the dogs obtain a tie to insure the female gets pregnant and to insure that his sperm is in her. If your males penis was swollen and he wasn't in the female than all he had was wishfull thinking and nothing more.

Please don't let your dog breed. In the Fresno paper there are like a dozen ads for Yorkie puppies. You think they will all sell and go to good families and not end up killed at a shelter? Some will. Please don't add to the pet overpopulation problem.

A male's penis can swell at any time because of arousal or excitement (sexual or not).

It can still swell if he tried and miss but most likely I would count on a litter
