So that a Muslim isnt able to shot him again, like when a Muslim shot John Paul.
In that respect, I guess you could say the Vatican was trailblazing.

He is travelling in a cage because there are so many ravenous and predating wild human beings that are obsessed in victimizing a pope!!
The Pope of all peoples perhaps is the most trusting human being that God will protect him. In fact in becoming a pope he trusted that his papacy may be able to serve people in going to God's kingdom.
The pope is more than ready to die for his beliefs just as there are murderous people ready to die to kill the pope if given the chance just because the pope's stands strong directly against their beliefs. The difference is the Pope would never kill aman whose belief is directly against his but there had been attempts from other people to kill the pope.
The pope needs to protect himself in a cage when going very publicly in so many countries. Aside from the cage, there are so many Swiss guards around him thatit is now so difficut to assasinate him.

Matthew 4:5-7 states:
Then the devil took him to the holy city, and made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: 'He will command his angels concerning you and 'with their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.'"
Jesus answered him, "Again it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.'"
There are a lot of crazy people out there so the Pope likewise uses his God-given common sense and does not put God to the test.
With love in Christ.

back in the [early 80s?] Pope John Paul II was the victim of an attempted assassination. Since then, the "Popemobile" has been used when he is tooling through crowded streets waving at people. I don't know whether the pope had anything to say about whether or not he uses the Popemobile.

Because someone once shot Pope John Paul II and now they are paranoid. You would think that they wouldn't be so worried about dying.

Should you stand in front of a speeding train and pray God will protect you? You have to have some measure of personal responsibility. And it's because of Pope JP's attempted assassination.

The Pope knows there is no god(s).
He is in a position of political power and he would prefer to keep that position rather than die.

They have to keep him locked up. If he got out he'd go completely crazy and run around healing lepers, changing water into wine and feeding multitudes.
And he wouldn't charge a penny for it! How can they make a profit out of that?

it's so some idiot doesn't shoot him, as you must well know. God has nothing against Prudence, which is, after all, a virtue.
