Check out 'Moores law' to answer your question in detail, but in principle todays computers are pretty much out of date by the time you get them home and worthless within five years. There is a physical limit curently at about 3Ghz because even lightwaves can only travel a few centimetres in the frequency time base, so limiting bus sizes, but this will be superceded by parallel processors and quantum digital systems.

That sounds like it will be true but how can you know if something about the future is true or not. It is in the future. It has not happened yet because the future hasn't happened yet. It is only a guess. It can be an educated guess but it still is a guess. It is not 100% certain.
But your guess, sounds reasonable. The processors will be outdated even sooner. I mean, how much would you be willing to pay for a 15 year old computer with windows 3.1 on it.

Yeah, that may well be true. Let me give you an example:
About 40 years ago the biggest, fastest, and most expensive computers on Earth cost several million dollars and required another several million dollars of air conditioning and power conditioning. Those machines had hard drives the size of a washing machine that held the staggering amount of 200 to 300 megabytes, they had 32 bit wide CPU's that ran at the blisteriung speed of around 1 MHz (no, not Ghz, Mhz. a lot of htem ran at more like 700 to 800 KHz), and had memory address busses that were 24 bits wide which meant 16 Megabytes tops of memory (and I never saw one with more that 10 or 12 Mbytes).
Todays average PC runs at around a GHz (1000 times faster), has 512 to 1024 Mbytes of memory (50 to 100 times as much memory), and 30 GByte drives can be had for around $100 (100 times as much hard drive) and they're the size of a paperback book (a thin one âº)
Today, you couldn't -give- one of those old dinosaurs away unless you wrapped it in $100 bills âº

It's true, but it will happen in about 2011-2012. Silicon that sells for hundreds of dollars today goes for scraps about four to five years later.

I predict there will be a an orthogonal multi-thread 3 dimensional processor that is organically grown. ( once crystalline metallic hair is concurred) for next to nothing, its' value will be in calculable
