They felt sorry for you and did not want to call the authorities.
But really--I know that you were just messing with the librarian's mind.
Here is one that drove my children wild.
If we agree on two things=
My thumb is the center of the universe.
My thumb never moves.
Then I would wave my thumb around and say
"See-everything is moving, including you."

When I was in grad school there was a guy who used to come to the music section and every day he would check out the opera "Hansel and Gretl". He would listen to it in a booth while he was wearing headphones.
Then one day he had been listening for a while, when everyone in the music area was startled to hear his voice suddenly cry out "MY GOD, SHE'S GOING TO *EAT* THOSE CHILDREN!"
Is your library story true? That poor librarian.

Well, you can get angry and argue with the library.
But its a large institution and you're just one person, so you won't win the argument.
Just like challenging the church on creationism, you can't win - logic can't change people's minds when they are 'indoctrinated' in the way of the institution.

People have freewill and by having so they have the option to believe or not to believe, be it the truth or a falsehood. However, what one believes does not in actuality make it a truth. The truth remains the truth whether one believes it or not.

Dam librarians....they are only good for one thing!
To Awesome: Cataloging books, what else? General contracting has nothing to do with it but I can't shake the tail.
