If fleas are on your pet, you should use drops you can get from the vet. Advantage, Frontline Plus, and Revolution are a few of the effective ones.
If they're in your home, you will probably need to get some flea bombs and use them in your home to help get rid of them.

By using a proper flea treatment, there are plenty of safe effective ones available these days, but only from vets. Frontline, Advantage, Revolution and Advocate are the Big 4 - Frontline Plus is the best for fleas because it kills the flea eggs and pupae as well.
You also need to treat your house when you're dealing with fleas, because 95% of any flea population lives in the environment, they only really stay on the animal for a while to feed - then they lay eggs, and these all drop off and hatch in your house. Again, store-bought products are not worth it, they're not specific flea treatments and therefore don't often work.

EDIT: To reiterate, don't waste your time with baths, collars, dish soaps and whatever else - these are old fashioned methods that don't work well. Once they were all that was available, but these days there's stuff that actually works, spread the word.

We just got over having fleas. I tried everything. My cat is really scared of the bathroom now because of all the baths that she has had. I found that BORAX laundry soap worked the best. Put it on the carpet, on and under the cusions of your furnature and where ever the cat sleeps, leave it all night and then sweep it up the next day. Repeat this for about a week or so. This will kill the eggs that have fallen off your pet and hatch later. You also need to shampoo your cat and use somekind of treatment. I got a spray from my vet that worked really good. There are lots of different ideas that you can look for on the internet, that is where I found this one. Good luck...

Hi I would suggest either taking your cat to the vet and get it a flea bath or getting some flea shampoo and going that at home. As for yetting fleas out of your house you can take a night light and place a green bulbe in it and place a small bowl of dish soap and water. The lights attract the fleas to the water they get in the water and can't stand on top of it since the soap breaks the skin that's normally on the top of water. hance they drown! You can also buy cleaning stuff for fleas for your carpets and stuff. Washing your cats bedding in hot soapy water helps as well! Good luck yo you!

Joy dish soap works great. Then get some spray for the beds, and house. If this isn't working call the Vet.Sometimes they are just too bad, you can't kill them all before they multiply...Bomb your home.
