There will be a lot of future cut backs so the US won't be a superpower for long.No one can stay a superpower forever.

In the last 7 years of my career, President Clinton eliminated half the Army, half the Navy and over a third of the Air force.
Clinton did what the Soviet Union only dreamed of doing.
By spelling it "armoured", I suspect that you are British. Where did you get your numbers? I haven't heard of 8 US divisions being cut. I saw in the news that the US Army is going to expand.

You have to look at the big picture when considering the military strength of the U.S. Army. They may be cutting some light infantry and armor, but they are integrating fast deploy striker task forces all over the place. A Striker Brigade can do what a normal light infantry division used to be able to do. So..less soldiers, less military spending..but more striking power.

Does it really matter? The US Army is still the strongest whether we are the largest or not. 6 infantry units is NOT a lot, At Ft Wainwright we have atleast 12 infantry units, and we are one of the smalled posts in the US!!

You have wrong information.

The US Army has over 500,000 soldiers.

The French Army had 135,000 soldiers.

The Marine Corp is larger than the French Army alone.

If we keep up the technical advantage no problem.
A squad of well trained, heavily armed, men could take
on a division of cave men.
I mean Real Cave men--not any one around today.
