The federal minimum wage is $5.85 per hour. Each state has their own minimum wage that can be found here: http://www.dol.gov/esa/minwage/america.htm

If your states minimum is higher, you are normally covered by the states minimum. If the federal is higher, you are covered by the federal minimum wage if you meet the federal rules (found here: http://www.dol.gov/compliance/guide/minwage.htm). Otherwise you get the state minimum. In some states the minimum is lower for people under 18.

I don't know what the new rate will be. I also don't know your age nor why you're asking the question, but I will address a few thing for you to look at for your future. There is one thing that should also be changed and that is that age should not reduce the minimum wage paid. My grandson and found out from my son when he was 15 years old received less than the minimum wage because of their age. My grandson worked at a place where he did as much if not more than young men older than him yet received less pay because of the age factor. If a person is able to be employed at a young age, they should be able to start off at minimum wage without any regard to their age. Same type of work or job, same pay
