And who wrote the Vedas, Mahabarata, Upanishads, Bagavad Gita (sorry if I didn´t write it correct, because my language is portuguese)? From where people took those ideas of soul, reincarnation, Infinit Spirit, illusion etc? And those things that we hear in the west about yoga, chakra, prana etc? When did India become poor? After the invasion of England?

India indeed has a culture that goes back thousands of years even more than 7000 years. It was well ahead of it times till the middle ages in terms of science religion litrature and all the other fields that we measure a developed country with. Here are a few examples

1. The only dimond mines in the world until the 18th century were in India .. and hence it was known for its richness , often being referred to as "Sone ki Chidiya" or the bird of gold, thus attracting a number of traders and ultimatly colonisers from Europe.
2. The first recorded plastic surgery was performed in India by a surgeon by the name of "Charkha"
3. The Digit 0 was discovered in India
4. Indians were the first to calculate the distance between Earth and Moon and that too accuratly.
5. Indian wrote the biggest and the most read about epics ever read .. the Ramayana and Mahabaharta
6. Indians were far ahead in matellurgy from the rest of the world .. the ashoka iron pillar is a proof of this.
7. Indians gave birth to a number of religions a. Hinduism b. Sikhism c. Jainism d. Buddhism
8. It has been proved now that the pythogorus theorem was invented in India a long time before pythogorus did.
9. The Indians gave the world the pie symbol and its true significance.

So you see that India was a really great country .. rich culturally and wealth wise. The reason for this wealth was the indian education system that existed in ancient India, which is known as the "Gurukul system". When the britishers came and even before that when the muslims invaded india the y began to degrade this education system and loot away the richness of india. So ultimatly after a continuous rule by the british for 200 years the great country of India was left drained both culturally and economically.
Not for long though as today once again India is again being seen as the future of the world both economically and intellectually.

Please accept my greeting,
I will try answering your question.During that time whole of this earth was only one kingdom ruled by one king called Bharat. but in the course of time all fragmented and a very smal portion of Bharat (india)is left now, this is the reason why India is spiritually inclined than any other country.
the scriptures the vedas, Mahabharata, upanishads, Bhagavad Gita they all were compiled by a Great sage called Vedavyas.Actually He is one of the incarnations of the supreme Lord Krishna.
the Fact that souls, reincarnations etc... are nothing but truth, and truth was always there it doesn't arise only if somebody eccepts it.We all die that is truth it doesn't independent off any ones idea to accept it or not.
Sir, i strongly suggest you to Refer the Bhagavad Gita to know more translated in english by is Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swamy Prabhupada only and no other translation.
Hare Krishna.

I've read Ramayana. It's either science fiction or a partly true legend of an ancient advanced civilisation.

If there was such a civlisation it would indeed have had to have been thousands of years ago as there's nothing left of the flying machines etc that it describes. However, parts of India are radioactive and declared off-limits by the authorities, although no nuke has ever gone off there in recorded history.

We invaded India less than 200 years ago. It was poorer then than it is now.

Does not matter which was the origin but I'm pretty happy that Hinduism is very diverse and has so many things Even if its proven that there is no God, I can still practice Hinduism with the likes of Meditation and Yoga Edit :I read the article, it seems to be creating another conspiracy theory of the Aryan-Dravidian conflict. One thing is not clear, the Dravidians claim themselves to non believers as God and God are something created by Aryans to control them,if that is the case how could "Shiva" teach them Tantra?

As far as South India is concerned, especially Tamilnadu we have lot of literature dating back to 2000 years and parts of other works dating still beyond.
If you read Thirukkural a collection of 1330 couplets you will have a clue.(You can get English version of the book)
